Them not changing how Araragi's house looks is probably down to Shaft just not wanting to change it, the bathroom definitely isn't actually that big, though the living room might actually just look like that since it's not too insane. It's impossible to always tell when something is done a specific way to accommodate the PoV character or when it's just Shaft being Shaft with the style. The house is almost certainly that 2nd one.
