PATRONS FIRST: Insta360 One R on "160 mph" quad

This video will post some time next week, but Patrons get an early look. I put the Insta360 One R on the "160 mph" quadcopter from the other day. Then I flew "3 packs a day". I have been on the fence about whether the 360 cam is an acceptable alternative to a GoPro style action cam. I mean, are you really going to do a bunch of 360-cam tricks if all you want to do is fly freestyle? But the ability to tweak the field of view to be exactly what I want was really exciting, and I was able to give the footage a different type of look than you're used to, without screaming, "LOOK MOM I'M SHOOTING IN 360," like some videos you might have seen.

Please watch this in 1440p if you can!!!! The bitrate and image quality is much better even if you are watching on a lower resolution screen.

Very different price point. Price being no object, the One R gives 360 and wide angle action cam whereas the GoPro doesn't do 360.

The big thing will be the ESC not the motors. The higher the rpm the bigger the voltage spikes will be. You could probably run cheap motors on an expensive ESC but not the other way around.

I would say fly anything remotely similar in the sim and you will improve. The sim will never be 100% like the real thing so don't spend too much time trying to match it exactly, unless you are willing to put a LOT of time getting it to match. Make sure your rates and uptilt are the same in the sim as real life because that will have a big effect.

Insta 360 one r or GoPro 7?

That quad is fast!!! I have about 20-2400 kv racerstar motors from when I flew 4s. Is it possible to use 6s on these cheap motors? I understand you will be guessing, but I would like your input. Can you please give the settings that make that quad fly, I'll probably try it, starting with a limit, not sure about that either, but I can just go back to JB's YT University to set that part up. Thanks for all you do JB. I hope yall are doing well through this pandemic. Take care!

Those 3 packs a day is really paying off, you're freestyle has noticeble improved, nice work!

Nice flight. I like the camera and I'm still waiting for your full review on it 500 is alot for that thing lol. But I'm sure its worth it I want to see interactive videos. And another thing, How can you be down to one quad lol. Is it three packs a day or three drones. Lol

GM do you think good idea on simulator to fly the same drone I'm still rookie and I'm trying to get better? so many choices do you have a recommendation liftoff?

I get the ease of use thing. That is a nice option.

I have to say, the big difference for me between the GoPro Max and the Insta360 One R is that the 360's workflow is vastly superior. The 360's PC editor is very easy to use, and the only feature it's missing compared to the Android app is automatic object tracking. The GoPro doesn't even have a PC editor. There is an app that can convert the files so they can be edited in Premiere, but if you don't have Premiere, forget it. You can only edit on the phone. The GoPro phone app is more polished, it's true. But I would take the 360's workflow every day. And with the 360 you get a 4k wide angle "mod" and the 360 "mod" for the same price as the Max.

the cruising throttle on that thing is ridiculous! Didn't see you punch full that much lol that thing is insane

Looks like fun. I'd like to see a video quality comparison between the Insta360 vs. GoPro. Not sure if the comparison video would be best judged through YouTube output tho. From what I see, the GoPro tends to have a little more detail on things like grass etc when in motion but honestly it could all be due to recording format, compression, and how it was uploaded to YouTube. I was really interested in getting the Insta360 2-piece camera setup for my Mavic Pro 2 until I saw footage someone had posted on YouTube. The quality was not what I was expecting with more jello etc. I couldn't see the investment cost at that point but I do like the variable framing aspect.
