crying blood is an exaggerated form of showing emotion in fiction, like you have been crying so long and hard it has started bleeding, I think predates anime or manga and is some historical literature thing.

Araragi crying blood is actually a thing that vampires in this series just kinda do, We saw it in Kizu, though given his low vampirism he shouldn't really be doing that in the first place I think so it's still just as terrifying as you imagined.
