2023-01-22 20:44:33 +0000 UTCI love Araki's uncanny ability to take some random niche topic he comes across and somehow writing it into a story. The Rods are a real life thing, the myth of them at least. They're a cryptid creature, most famously appearing in a skydiving video which is online to this day, you can see white looking creatures flying behind the skydivers for a frame of video. They even recreated the skydivers in the episode. Some people believe they truly do exist, some saying they're extinct animals from the past and some that they're interdimensional beings. The History Channel even did a whole 45 minute episode breaking down the rods legend. If you watch the real skydiving video, you really can see what appears to be the weird white creatures flying, it's for sure bizarre!
