Avatar the Last Airbender Episode 11 Early Access

Comments

There are parts of Korra that are good, but there's also a lot that I don't like. I think it jumps way too far into the future of the setting, barely explains what happened in the intervening time, and barely touches on what our old cast of characters got up to, and then tells an ultimately unsatisfying story with characters that I didn't really like. It starts off strong, then falls off heavily. I suppose it's worth watching to get the full story, but I don't consider it to be anywhere close to being on par with Avatar.

It's been so long since I watched ATLA, I don't remember much of it. I didn't think this episode was that bad, it was a nice one-off story, and the ending was a nice twist.

Silver Soul

Yeah, I don't have many negative things to say about this show, but this is probably the only episode that'd I'd consider filler. I think the concept is fine, it's the sort of thing the Avatar should be expected to do, but it's just not executed super well.

I mostly summarized my thoughts on Korra in my reply to Nick, but basically my way of thinking about it is to me it's like the Steins;Gate 0 to Steins;Gate. I generally don't prefer it over Avatar, but at the same time, it has some of my favorite moments across both shows. And to answer your second question, yes, there are plans for another series in the Avatar universe, coming in 2025. I won't give any more details in case of spoilers, though we really don't know much yet anyway.

Korra was unfortunately plagued with lots of production issues, like getting greenlit for one season at a time, (minus 3 and 4). Despite this, I really enjoy it. It's hard not to compare the two shows for obvious reasons, but between the music, the visuals and some great character moments, there is a lot to love about Korra as a show.

Oak

Oh man, this episode. This is probably the one episode of ATLA that I did not enjoy, but at least we are past it now! Thanks for the reaction, Zen!

Sebastián

Korra isn't horrible but it has some ups and downs, not quite as solid as Avatar's story. It does have some of my favorite moments in the series though, one very iconic sequence that I wish became a whole series of it's own (I'm sure those that have seen the series know which part I'm hinting at.)
