My Hero Academia Season 4 Episode 22 Early Access

Comments

Sorry, i’m adding another comment because I love this episode so much. I find it beautiful that it goes full circle for Izuku’s character. He sort of becomes kind of what he hates, someone who won’t lend a helping hand to those in need. Justice is complicated, and doesn’t go one way completely or the other. Perhaps it wasn’t the ‘right’ choice for Deku to initiate a fight, perhaps it wasn’t ‘right’ for him to reprimand Gentle. But, that’s just the kind of person Izuku is.

I’m glad he’s seen as popular, because honestly most of the people who were discussing this part of the anime hated these two! Sure, they are a total tonal shift from last arc, but.. not really? These episodes deal with topics of suicide, almost manslaughter???! and the fear of dying and being forgotten. Gentle was so justified in his pursuit of ‘fame’ that I can’t blame him like… at all! He had no clue about the stakes for Izuku, and couldn’t possibly understand even when spoke to, and the same goes for Deku!

This is basically how MHA got away with a "whimsical" villain right after overhaul - even the extravagant people of this world have a reason to be that way, and Gentle remains a fan favorite.

Much like his Gently Sandwich™, Gentle Criminal is a man of many layers. His backstory never fails to hit me where it hurts. To want something so badly, yet every time he tries to act on his dreams it always seemed to backfire, until he nearly killed someone. You did a great job summarizing Gentle and La Brava's relationship in your discussion, so I don't really have anything to add. Overall a great arc so far, and now we're one step closer to the school festival!

Such an underrated episode. These two are so lovely, and every single scene they show their undying love for each-other. This is one of the few episodes where i hoped Izuku WOULDN’T win; although obviously plot-wise he deserved it.
