My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 15 Early Access

Comments

Great reaction as always, really glad you enjoyed where the episode ended up! Some great moments left in this season but man... can't wait for you to see season 6!! Not only story and excitement wise is it on a different level but it seems that the production of the season was better this time around too.

While they did some major reshuffling of the order in which parts of the manga were adapted and obviously rewrote the Hawks thing a bit (and you're not wrong to be critical about that) they wouldn't skip an entire arc, so look forward to the rest of the season. Also you might wanna edit your comment to remove the name of the next arc, that name is just too cool to know beforehand (maybe it's fine idk)

I went back and re-read some parts of this section of the manga to refresh myself, at this point there were some hints that Hawks is a double agent working against the villains, but it still isn't 100% clear whose side he's ultimately on nor what the extent of his villainous activities have been - it's much more grey as to whether or not he's doing good. The problem (again without spoiling what they are) is that they are hiding a lot of information from the anime viewers. Because of that, we are missing out on all of the time in which we don't know Hawks is on the hero's side and have skipped to the part where it begins to be revealed he's against the villains. This part of the anime is vastly different from the manga. In the anime, we also skipped what exactly happened in Deika city. They keep mentioning that something happened there and it may have had something to do with the league of villains, we got a brief shot of Tomura laughing amidst all the rubble, but don't go into any more details, whereas in the manga that was it's own whole "My Villains Academia" arc where we followed the villains exclusively. This is around the time when I became so disinterested in watching the anime, that I actually did stop watching it altogether (so now this is the first time actually seeing this part animated). The pacing slowed way down, while simultaneously skipping way ahead, at a time when SO much was happening in the manga, it felt odd to me.

The manga is definitely worth a shot (for this part)! I didn’t really like how they took the anime in this season.. theres a loss in a lot of key elements… the story is changed.. the animation has changed, etc. Its hard to like something when its so much different from the thing you originally loved. I’m finding the little things to love this season. Excited for the next one!
