The Todoroki plotline definitively elevates MHA above a run of the mill shounen, the other parts are good, some amazing even, but how well it handles such a delicate issue is really impressive for a series aimed at a younger/YA audience.

2023-09-24 10:34:35 +0000 UTCAs you said during the episode, I think the Todoroki family plot is one of the strongest narratives in MHA. As others have previously mentioned, this season wasn't received super well overall. There were many reasons for this. While I generally enjoyed the last arc, it's far from the most popular and could have easily been 1 or 2 episodes shorter had they cut the 1-2 minute recaps each episode. Then you have episodes like this one, where the content itself is really good, (I personally love this arc) but 40% of the episode is flashbacks. This arc was also supposed to come later, but got switched around with the next arc so the anime would line up with the 3rd movie. So despite a lot of the actually content being really good, there were a lot of production related issues that held it back. Thankfully, this episode was by far the worst as far as recap stuff goes, and the remaining episodes are adapted much better. I'm glad you didn't seem to mind, since at the very least they serve to show Endeavor continuing to grow. I hope I didn't sound too negative about MHA here. I've been very vocal about my love for it over these videos, but I wanted to at least give some context for the reacps and all that. I contemplated bringing this up earlier but I didn't want it to affect any expectations you had, and hopefully I haven't done so now. Thanks for the all the videos and I hope you continue to enjoy MHA until you're caught up!
