Balloonie's Origins

Here I am, in an underwater base, a giant dome with lots of rooms with advanced gizmos, with a bunch of abnormal freaks plotting to take over the world. They’ve been biting their time preparing for every possible outcome imaginable, and the day for alien uprising is drawing near. Once they convince everyone to lay down their arms for our own technology, they’ll be easy pickings. Our technology is quite impressive, too. Portable room modifiers, simplified shrink rays, and never before seen elements to ever cross space. Who wouldn’t want to live with a bunch of people who can make all that stuff?

Well, if I’m being honest...ME!

Truth is, they’re not really the type of people to give respect for nothing. They restrict their technology to any rookie or unauthorized personnel, and anyone who doesn’t follow orders gets punished, especially me. Throughout my whole life, ever since I was born, I was warped back and forth, day and night, from the base to civilization and back, forced to figure things out for myself, without asking help from ANYBODY or else. I see now that the life I’m forced to live is incredibly stupid and monumentaly dreary. Don’t get me wrong, though. I’m glad to be given life to this world. I was even lucky enough to evolve a will of my own, what with being nice to earthlings and whatnot. But just following orders forever? I’m just not sure that’s all there is to life. I mean, I’m already a month into my sweet 16. SURELY there’s more to life out there than this. And who knows...maybe one day I’ll find it.

Little did I know that very day would come sooner than I thought. I recently overheard a rumor about me having a few abnormal capabilities in case things end up going downhill for me, and it has something to do with my antenna. I decide to give them a tug. At first, I didn’t feel anything different. But when I wanted to stretch my back, I suddenly found myself hitting the ceiling. Apparently, when I pull my antenna, my whole body turns into rubber, allowing me to stretch in any which way possible. I decided to take this power for a test drive.

For the past half hour, I was bouncing, stretching, and flinging myself all over the place. But then, when I decided to stretch from one end of a hallway to another, I lost my grip, sent myself flying off and bouncing from wall to wall, then crashing into the underwater base’s primary air supply room.

That’s when I began to stretch in a whole different way.

One of the air compulsion tubes came off, and there it was wiggling like a noodle. I knew I’d be in a lot of trouble if this was left unchecked. I tried grabbing the hose, but instead the hose grabbed me. It shot straight into my mouth and halfway down my throat. Before I knew what hit me, I was sitting on the ground and beginning to blow up. My limbs were already too swollen for me to get the hose out. Yet, during that incident, I was somehow lost in my own personal thoughts of the situation. Everything felt so tight, so swollen, and so amazing. Those words in my mind made me want to grow bigger, to fully live up to my name.

As I continued to swell, I was already rounding up, and overfilling the air supply room. Within the next few seconds, I busted through the walls of the room, and was still growing. Alarms started to blare out, and the entire alien race started to evacuate the dome. And here I was, a full perfect sphere, overfilling and busting through floor after floor of the dome. In less than 5 minutes, I’ve been blown up so big I’ve filled up the entire dome, top to bottom. At that very moment, my expansion slowed down, came to a crawl, then stopped expanding. And then, without further warning…

*KABOOOOOM!!!*

I bursted like a balloon, destroying the entire underwater dome in one massive air blast. All that was left of that place was pieces of scrap metal.

I woke up on shore some time later, in the middle of the beach. I was back to my normal figure, as if nothing happened. In the corner of my eye, I saw spaceships. They saw their “experiment” backfiring and left me out to dry here. I doubt they’d be back anytime soon, but then I realized with them gone, I’m free to make something out of my life, right here, on Earth. So that’s what I did, and ever since then, I’ve been using my talents for my own amusement while living the life of the average human being. Please let me feel welcome!
