Thank you... it's refreshing when someone points out the misattributing of 'Immaculate Conception'. Which referred to Mary's state of grace, born without orginal sin... not the conception of Jesus.

Octavia

But calling it an immaculate conception is freaking hilarious. Also okay we already had the Dagger of Helios, but maybe that's why Calisto had to get it being an angel and all. Ares throwing it away yeah doesn't seem like he would do. Honestly, I think at this point they finally decided to solidfy what Ares is to Xena and why he is so freaking obsessed. Maybe I am looking to much into it, the reaction that Kevin Smith put on his face when he held Xena with a knife to her throat, I don't know, kinda belabors what happens in future episodes, almost like Kevin and the writers finally decided to start showing it.

Bo D

LMAO!!!!! The gods know we love a good gay immaculate conception.

Bo D

Okay fucking amazing love the swag. I also loved your reaction to the rooted subtext wonderfully weaved into the maintext

Bo D

I mean lore in this show was very loose. The timeline and map was drawn by a 2 year old and that’s putting it lightly.

Girl4Music

Yep. And it checks out that the only way Xena could have a baby at this point in the show was if no man was involved. Xena is the mother Gabrielle is the father Callisto is the child.

Love your shirt Kass! I saw your socks in a x-files reaction and they also rule šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

Leave it to Xena to have the Gayest immaculate conception lol.

I'm well aware of the history of the Hind's Blood Dagger. (Actually, there's more than one dagger with Hind's Blood on it.) ... I guess the writers did intend for this to be the same dagger, but there are all kinds of problems of logic that come up in response to that. I don't think there's a great way to introduce this god-killing weapon to this story, even if it's theoretically less cluttered to use a weapon that's been seen before.

Koz

Love your xena gear!

This story arc in particular was one that got me quite a bit emotionally due to it being what finally ties up Callisto's arc. The Callisto we all love to hate and hate to love is gone with her Season 5 arc and what happens in this episode is a fitting and beautiful conclusion for her character. And because I interpret the entire show as a WLW love story between Xena and Gabrielle from start to finish I felt that Callisto being the one to help Eli revive Xena and Gabrielle from the dead and also the one to give Xena and Gabrielle a child to which would conceal her own soul was wacky as fuck on a narrative level but executed so damn brilliantly on an emotional level. I loved it a lot not just because I thought it was the endgame that Callisto deserved but also because it really gave Xena and Gabrielle a new way forward in their relationship that helps to develop on both their characters individually as well as a loving couple with a baby on the way. In a way, Callisto has given them both a second shot at parenthood because she was the catalyst for destroying that first attempt for both of them to begin with. It’s her way of making it up to them. I think it’s a bloody brilliant idea to do this. She was always their great burden. Now she’s their great blessing. Beautiful. ā¤ļø

They credit the 100th episode to be ā€˜Seeds Of Faith’. But yeah, technically it was ā€˜Lyre, Lyre, Hearts On Fire’ You could tell they had a lot of fun on that one. It might not have been all that of an episode of Xena. But it was a celebration for the creators/cast/crew. Many of which left the show to do ā€˜Lord Of The Rings’. That was their last episode so it’s good that they made it a fun one - a musical that wasn’t as stressful for them as ā€˜The Bitter Suite’ was. They deserved it. About the Dagger. There’s also the Hinds-Blood Dagger from Sacrifice 1&2. Which is just a normal dagger but dipped in the blood of the Golden hind. That’s what gives it the power to kill gods. The blood. Not the dagger. As for the Dagger of Helios. Are we sure we’re not just talking about the same dagger here? They look an awful lot like each other after all. Rob Tapert said what he hated about this episode is that he gave Xena a ridiculous excuse to leave Gabrielle and Eli behind so that the drama could happen and kicked himself that he didn’t have the chance to put that right. Because it’s true… what important things would she be doing alone that she couldn’t have done with alongside them? Kicking Ares’ henchmen’s asses can happen anywhere. Didn’t have to be on a bridge outside of the town. And like you said… why didn’t she just cut the bridge while they were at the opposite side? It’s too convenient.

This was the 100th episode to be produced, I believe, and it's unclear if they at one time intended for it to be the 100th to air (but it was 99.) ... Why didn't Xena just cut the rope bridge to begin with? ... This is obviously a big episode, with several important events, including the death of ancient Greek hippie pseudo-Jesus Eli, and the reveal of the "father" of Xena's baby as Callisto, more or less. (Some people incorrectly call this an "immaculate conception," but that's not what that term means.) Callisto touched Xena back at the beginning of this season, hinting at this. ... Gabby really couldn't have stopped Ares from killing anyone. It's kind of pointless for them to fight. ... The Dagger of Helios! Not to be confused with... uh, the Dagger of Helios. This name was used before for the mystical doohickey that unlocked ambrosia in "The Quest," and I can't chalk up the re-use of the name for a different doodad to anything other than laziness. So, Xena knew all along that there was a god-killing weapon (not the only one) but no one, even the gods, ever sought it out? And Ares then gets it and then just THROWS IT AWAY?! Um, no. That really doesn't make sense. ... I think the highlight for me is Gabrielle's "Don't you DARE blame me!" I'm glad that you enjoyed the episode!

Koz

Context on Gabby’s ā€˜really big sword’. She is the daddy after all. And Callisto’s the child. šŸ˜‚ On a serious note… ā€œDon’t fight for me, Gabrielle. If I die, I die. Better to die with the knowing that I always lived for peace than to live but live with the guilt that violence saved me.ā€ It’s always a compelling narrative and theme. And you’ve got Gabrielle caught between a rock and a hard place yet again. She’s a warrior. She must fight. It’s who she is. And Eli is just like ā€œNot for me.ā€ šŸ˜– What do you do? The answer: Respect the person’s wishes regardless what you believe and of how much you love them. If they don’t want you to fight to save them. Don’t. The amount of times Gabrielle gets saddled with that conflicting dilemma is why she’s my all-time favourite. ā€˜Seeds Of Faith’ is a hard one to watch. Boy… And Eli.. I mean what an awesome responsibility. The guy is only human. It’s too much to ask.
