COMIC: Where to Start

Originally published on my first Patreon account March 21, 2020

Well, here we go. My first foray back into journal comics!

Originally I'd been working on a Very Serious Comic that would catch everybody up with the last year of my life and also, like, the last decade since I wrapped up my last autobio series as well. But it was too much and then I had this conversation with Lux Alptraum and it was like 'Why make something new when you could repeat verbatim what just happened?'

There's no set schedule to how often I'll be producing and posting these, but I'm hoping to get up at least one a month. Even though I stopped keeping a public journal comic in 2009(?!), I continued my habit of writing scripts about the conversations and events in my life, so I have... a lot of backdated material I can harvest for this. What I mean is, I'm intending to share a mix of my current existence (Hello, Quarantine Life!) with scenes from the past as well (I was unwittingly giving my neighbors a full view of me doing chores in the kitchen absolutely starkers for THREE YEARS before one of them finally told me).

Anyway. I miss telling my stories and I've missed connecting with people through them. I've been too gun shy to post these kind of comics on The Regular Internet because it's just a shitshow out there. But here... in a little space where it's a self-selected group of folks who get my sense of humor and lifestyle... Yeah. I feel safer-ish posting that kinda stuff here.

I signed up for your Patreon today, read and loved "The Scroll," then looked over the list of your comics (thx for putting the list in one handy place!) and saw "where to start" - purrrrfect. I love and am grateful for OJST, and I am also THRILLED that you are back to doing autobio comics!
