So we’re thinking of making a podcast…

CONTENT WARNING: long description of a podcast that has not yet been recorded

Hey everyone! We have been talking a lot about some ideas for a podcast and we think we finally settled on one. If you don’t know already, the person currently typing is Claire. Hi! It’s nice to meet you! I run Gabe’s Patreon (for over a year now), work as an assistant editor, and am the occasional Off-Screen Associate in some of his videos. I also pretty soon am going to be his wife. Kinda crazy, right?

Anyway… so we have been discussing a lot about doing a podcast. It’s something we both have wanted to do… but we just didn’t know what to do with it. Let me know if you guys like this idea — we were thinking of doing a very conversational and educational podcast (something we’re both individually passionate about) where we discuss complex ideas that are actually NOT that difficult to comprehend. If you’re anything like me, you hear some sciency or mathematic words appear in a conversation and mentally check out because you already know you won’t be able to understand it. Sometimes it can be REALLY embarrassing to be stuck on the first thing somebody says and have to ask yourself in your head to rack your brain on how “orbit” or “gravity” really works…

And hey! If you’re NOT like that, then you’ll still be able to enjoy the conversation. If you’ve been following Gabe for awhile, you’ll know he’s a huge science enthusiast. He has built his own ultralight aircraft (Paramotor), rockets, explosives, FPV Quadcopters, Tesla coils, fog machines, a rocket launcher, and a billion other things. His brain and world revolves around science and math and a big part of this podcast is learning to communicate with people who don’t work or think that way — the people who don’t know how orbital mechanics works and who definitely don’t use it as a daily phrase. 😉

The best part? We will be learning something new together — perhaps multiple things! — every single episode. And yes, that’s right folks, there is NO TEST. There is nobody telling you to memorize anything or you won’t be able to get into the school you want. There is no failing. We don’t give out F’s. We just want people to be curious, ask questions, and not be afraid to learn. I think everybody should get the opportunity to ENJOY learning about physics, chemistry, and biology without wanting to scream into oblivion. (No? Just me?)

So… does this sound like something you’d like to take part in and listen to? Of course, this podcast will be streaming on all audio-centric platforms and will be available to everyone. But, as a Patreon member, we wanted this platform to have the unique opportunity to ask us questions. Therefore any of our patrons, no matter the tier, will be able to ask us questions that we will answer at the end of every episode.

We hope you are as excited about this idea as we are! We can’t wait to learn with you!

~ Claire & Gabe

Totally late to the party! Did I miss this? Has it not started yet? Super interested in this podcast. I’m terrible at understanding science but I find it fascinating nonetheless.

Challenge accepted! 😄

Maya

Good to hear! I do have quite a few questions about space.

Aleximus Prime

Hey I'm excited for anything y'all put out!

I haven’t listened to that podcast but I’m glad you’re excited!! ~ Claire

Haha — thanks, man! We’re looking forward to it too. Just gotta come up with a solid plan for our first few episode topics and then we will get started! After that it’ll be as easy as pie! ~ Claire

Well hey, this podcast is definitely going to be challenging… but not an impossible challenge. Thanks for the response, Maya! ~ Claire PS: after the episodes Gabe would love to discuss more if anyone else has any other unanswered Qs on his Twitter! He’d love that!

WRITING. THAT. DOWN!!!!! These comments are amazing. Thank you, guys! Y’all are the best! ~ Claire

Oh yeah sorry! I forgot to put the “~Claire”! I never forget that. Dangit!! Heheh. But yeah, we will take Qs from Patreon specifically so you can even ask us stuff about writing sci-if too! ~ Claire ~ Claire ~ Claire :P

Dude then this podcast will TOTALLY be for you. I feel the exact same way!! It’s hard to just “get” something out of an explanation. You can read it a bunch of times but if it doesn’t make sense the third time you read it… you’re kinda stuck. Hopefully I end up asking Gabe all of the same questions you and the audience would be asking. I’m excited! Loving these responses ❤️ ~ Claire

That sounds pretty neat. I know science stuff for me is hard to learn by reading an explanation but if someone explains it out loud I get the concepts better.

Margaret McLaren

I thought this was Gabe answering it at first and got confused. XD I might learn a thing or two listening to it. I think hearing you guys talk about science might help me with my sci-fi writing cuz I often feel I don't know what I'm doing and need help or should have more background knowledge.

Aleximus Prime

Dude. I feel you. I always feel like I won’t be able to understand it. But Gabe has showed me a WHOLE new world it’s this kind of stuff. We want this to be an experience that everyone can enjoy + understand!!!!

Oh man. Well it sounds like you guys want to focus mostly on science. Part of me wants to say yes because it will be interesting and educational, but the other half is afraid he'll be too dumb to understand it. ^^; It would be nice if it was like a show where you talk about anything in particular, but you do what you think is best for it. I'll definitely try seeing if I can tune in to the first episode for sure!

Aleximus Prime

you know I'm always down for whatever ya got Gabe and Claire

Sol Daybreak

I would love to learn about different wave frequencies. :3

Tradley

It sounds very interesting. I am a little bit afraid, if I will understand everything in the audio, because English is not my first language, but that's a good challenge - learn new things and also new words... I hope so 😊 But yeah, I think it´s a really good idea.

Maya

I’m down with the idea, I always enjoy learning new topics and you guys always seem to have a fun dynamic, so this could be interesting!

This sounds like a mix of the Try Guys and the Getting Curious Podcast that Jonathan Van Ness does, I'm very excited!!!
