A structure question

Been thinking about a story and wondered about the structure. Do you prefer it to be chronological, like suiting up and then interacting with the public or a cold open where they are already out in public engaging with people and only later is it shown that theyre suited? Either one, depending on the tone and context of it. A comedy that starts with a cold open to the chaos reminiscing on how they got here, a moment of silence as a nervous doctor gives instructions to a waiting test subject. Both depend on literary timing.
