Fixing Lea’s rejection if you aren’t trustworthy enough

One of the feedback I’ve gotten was that Lea’s scene wasn’t working very well for cunning players without enough points for the Exhibitionism skill.

In other words, to have access to Lea’s lewd scene in chapter 2, you need to prove to her that you’re a genuinely good guy she can trust, or else she will have doubts about exploring that new found side of hers with you.

And that’s the whole idea behind the skill system: you can only get some skill if your personality is compatible with it. To get the Exhibitionism skill, you have to have made some enough Honorable choices that show you’re good enough for Lea to trust you.

However, this message wasn’t passing across well enough through the narrative. What was happening, was that Lea was ready to show all players her panties, no matter what. And then the “game system” just blocked the untrustworthy ones from accepting her offer, saying you weren’t the right person for her. As you can see, this does not make much sense, as a narrative, for cunning players. They would be the ones less likely to care if they were the right person or not, and Lea was ready to spread her legs to them anyway. It didn't feel like she was rejecting them for not having enough Honorable points. There was a big dissonance between the narrative and the system.

So I’ve made a few small changes to that scene:

Now, just before that conversation, a player can only move forward if he has collected enough Honorable points, or else Lea won’t be interested in exposing herself to him.

A fine lines later, when it’s clear she trusts you, you can still get the Exhibitionism skill, or not. But now it’s your decision to go forward or pull the breaks.

This way it seems better, although it’s not perfect. There are some challenges to perfectly fit the narrative with the game systems. But I’ll pay more attention to this in the future and try to avoid situations like this.
