(well, papers signed to start renting it in May, it's not really our house, but stiiiiiill!!!) and that means I'm gonna have a lot of work to do these next few weeks 'cause BOY is there stuff to be done!

I definitely feel for Edouβs situation. With him not wanting to hurt or eat animals, but also from what I can tell only being able to rely on what his mother can provide, and that being somewhat difficult for her from what the neighbor said in that flashback. I switched to a vegan diet myself quite a bundle of years ago, but that was after the point where I had a job an income where I could easily make that happen myself. To be a kid and a half to, one, fight to be listened to on the topic and, two, even being able to get help supporting having a vegan diet Is a extra difficult life problem to be thrown.

Funeral? Eat. Birthday party? Eat. Good times? Eat. Bad times? Eat. Can we not? My guess: no, we probably can't. And it sucks for those of us on selective diets. That's just the way it is, and asking society to change it is just too big of an ask.
