Lillian brought it up in one strip, in stating she'd be ok if Roomie saw other people if it was important to her. Not sure if there was a definitive answer, tho.

They could easily have mentioned something like "Too bad X couldn't be with us having fun here but she had to go out of town for a short while". But of course those were just limited-plot and stand alone vignettes and not really part of the ongoing story.
