Poll result for May! Explorer's camp won!

Bit late to announce the winner, sorry for that, it as a bit hectic these days!

So as you can see, Explorer's camp have won!

For the characters, we were thinking of at least 2 ''rangers'' type of characters (woman and man version) , to do the scouting ahead! And probably a fun cook NPC, to stay at the camp and prepare the rations ! Do you have some in mind you think would fit the theme?

Scenery wise, as it has been said, many camps have been done already, so it's going to be interesting to find fresh stuff to do, and / or do some my own way!
For the moment to start with we were thinking of a bigger square tents, not the smaller triangular ones! But I want to hear your ideas!

Let us know what you would like to see for both characters and sceneries :D And we'll see what we can pick or draw inspiration from!

Take care!

Love the Trapper/guide and pet ideas. Perhaps similar to the witch hunter with the interchangeable weapons, do something similar for the Ranger characters since they can be versatile characters to play and spec in ranged and melee combat. Maybe a couple of hammocks between small trees? I had several stints of living in the woods when I served and having a hammock vs. sleeping on the ground was a game changer, especially in the winter or rain. Perhaps a couple of basic enemy scouts/troops, goblins or bandits some such looking to get some easy loot?

a good old adventurer with a pith helmet, if a trapper/hunter guide is part of the set then maybe some traps (deadfall,a pit trap set 1 set and one sprung) and maybe a decent dog or hunting companion. and a human pack person/porter like patsy in monty pythons holy grail.

Wasn't going for modern for sure! I had in mind the ones from LOTR, without looking, but I'll do some researchs!

Instead of modern looking tents, could you inspire yourself from Medieval 15th century tents? They are more complex and big enough to be hollow, so the interior could actually be used.

A couple of prisoners or bounties they've caught?

A dwarf cook would be awesome, a friend in my campaign plays a dwarf barbarian beating people up with meat tenderizers when he's not whipping something up.

A water boy/girl for the horses?

After how great the Gypsy wagon came out I’d love to see a Chuck wagon and a chubby cook!

Oh yes, sitting minis are really hard to find

Eric Matecki

Who will take care of the mounts? And who will hold the torch

Kenneth Gatt

You know when I was in a party or gming, everytime we went questing in the wilderness there were always two problems.

Kenneth Gatt

I voted like that cause I really like Vae Victis style and what they come up with every month;) Also their minis print well on my Ender 3. Aaand I hate desert 😁

Sebastian Dzik

Awesome!:3 Please, do a generic human traper. I need npcs that have a reason to live in the wilderness;)

Sebastian Dzik

Lots of good ideas from everyone. I like the Trapper character with various types of traps, perhaps a Ranger type with a pet, a Cartographer with map and tools w/ hat, a Cook (but not your typical cook, they've got to fend for themselves as well if in a bind). Accessories could be various traps: bear trap, net trap, caltrops, etc. Scenery: ruins, cave entrance, etc.

I would love An adventurer (or two) sitting on a log or something, maybe poking a fire. I think that would really be nice in a diorama, and I haven’t been able to find anything like that.

I think a cool idea would be a watch tower with a zip line attached! 🤔 we’ve seen watch towers being done but none with a zip line lol or I’m thinking camp like from That Old movie “Hook!” With Robin Williams 😱 makeshift tents and trolly carts and zip lines and ropes to swing off of

Trying to think of something fresh is hard, I’ve only seen 1 or 2 camps before as I’m only new to printing and patreon. As with some of the above ideas, I think a rich noble in their tent, maybe need, a driving factor for the journey, is she just travelling to a distant city for a kings coronation, or hunting a dragon or large creature to impress a fair maiden? I think a couple of swags or small tents for the hunters/rangers would be cool as well as the tent, cause they aren’t allowed in the big tent. Maybe some tracking dogs, pack mules/horses, hobbit cook, or maybe a half orc cook for something different! Couple of general guard like folk with bows on watch. A musician and jester to entertain the noble.

How about a group of drunk adventures around a campfire.... something lurking behind the trees waiting to attack

I think finding something that hasn't been done several times already is the key here. There is a great adventurer's camp set for free on thingiverse and the starter set of artisan guild offers an adventurer's camp aswell. I don't unterstand why so many people voted for it in the first place but hey... Let's make the best of it I guess. I think versatility would be the thing here: The idea of the pompous noble is great, but maybe make him usable for a "normal" setting aswell. The cook could have a modular hand with either a pan or a knife making him useful as either a cook or a bandit / street gang member (I imagine him like "machete (movie) " with a lot of knifes on him as some sort of trapper / cook). A general guide Charakter with swappable hands / head would be amazing aswell - Imagine him as a guy/gal dressed in a lot of clothes with the following heads: Normal/no helmet (forest), Pelt hood (ice), Cloth (desert), Junglehat (Jungle) and the following hands: staff, Map, Machete, Empty hand, ice/climbing pick, and maybe some sort of magical compass. Just my two cents ☺️😜

I'd actually love to have a diarama type piece of scenery, where it's a clearing surounded by trees. Trees could be just the trunks a few inches high to simulate tall forest trees. Many "camps" adventurers create in our D&D games are usually forest clearings where they can put out their bed rolls and start a fire.

How about Dwarves, or maybe a monster hunting team going after a flesh golem that killed a young child? How about the flesh golem itself?

Bushcraft shelters perhaps? I see explorers as traveling light over rough terrain, not with tents that take horses or wagons to move around.

Lloyd Moore

What about one for a female character as well? Woman in corset but trousers instead of dress.

Jacob Racey

A musician playing by the fire is always nice. Accessories such as backpacks, sheathed swords resting, fallen trunks or tree stumps, a man or woman abenturero sleeping leaning against a tree or stone, a dog or cat, horses, a cart And something that seems obvious but I miss are trees as scenery. These are some ideas that occur to me :)

Sergio Lafuente

Gus Chiggins. Prospector. Look it up on youtube :)

I love all the npc ideas, but if they could have hints at player characters so they could be both npc and pc, would be great fore versatility! Like they could have a few items on them like a dagger, or sword, etc that could make them seem both npc and pc.

Silverbeam Creations

I got the idea of an older safari/mapping africa type explorer, with the stereotypical outfit. If you know the show Penny Dreadful, Malcom Murray came to mind immediately

TheMorrigan

I wouldn't hate seeing a big "Command" tent. It doesn't even necessarily need to be military in style, just something that is a little bigger and stands out as the main hub of an encampment!

Gary Pruitt

I think a single explorer character in different outfits could be cool! Like the Explorer in arctic gear, then again in desert exploration gear, and then again in jungle, or coastal gear. It'd be fun to have a recurring explorer character show up in an RPG everywhere the party goes.

A trapper character? Maybe some snares or traps. Hunting hound? Or cold weather explorers? Been struggling to find some haha

Jacob Racey

Taht's not a bad idea at all! :D

Yes! With roof removable for playing inside!

How about a pompous, ill prepared, noble who is funding the whole thing.

Shad Scarboro

Bug square tents are cool, mess hall type things
