January's poll result ! "Townfolks" theme won !

And the starting month of 2021 will be Townfolks 01!

Why 01? As we explained last month, many of the civilians themes were not winning and were in the polls since early this year.

So we chose to remove them and instead add a more generic Townfolks theme. Once this one will be done, we'll wait probably a month, and add the 02. (Why waiting? So if it was to win again, we're not stuck in an endless townfolks circle :D )

Now the question is, what do we do?

-Do you prefer that we focus on a theme (market, fishermen, artisans, children....) Might not be the best, as the more precise themes never won the polls, so not sure about that!

-Or do we just make unique characters, trying to cover as many options as possible over time.

As Townfolks is quite a vast and generic theme, we'll try to have them all unique and interesting, we don't want to make Human_townfolk_1644 haha!

As usual you'll get props and bases to go along with them!

Thanks again a lot for your support!

Let us know your suggestions if you have some, and please remember that we can't do every ideas you gave us haha, even though they are more than often great ones! Everything that we can't do stays noted for the future :D

Once again, please share our stuff around on social media and printing groups, it's the best way for us to keep doing what we do, and maybe grow a bit!

Take care friends ! <3

months theme...

I’m excited for whatever you choose! But I like the idea of a few kids. Almost no companies make them. Also, maybe more unique towngolks other companies haven’t done to death. Actors, herbalist, potionshop merchant, thieves guild might be an entire

Would love to see a jeweler/ appraiser with an exotic/ charismatic vibe. We usually see the "tinkerer" types, but what about the shrewd attractive type that cheats adventurers out of gold?

Dennis Moore

Oh yeah! I've been waiting for this for several months. Finally we get the cool minis of the city dwellers.

The more variety in the townsfolk, in terms of jobs and races the better, IMO.

I'd prefer unique characters, as they're more fun for me to paint. Plus, I can always use those unique characters to represent whatever I need them to, but a fish mongerer will only ever be a fish mongerer But either way, I'm sure I'll be pleased as always with the result 🙂

i personally would like a fish market and artisan markets but good bushels and crates with food produce and food sacks are alway good. A load of merchant stores are always good and usually early stops for adventures

My only request besides varied races is varied body size types. Fat NPCs need some loving too. :)

I think the best move is to go for either a Tavern or Market theme for your first townsfolk release as those are generally the 2 most common places PCs will go to during an adventure in town. Considering Tavern Brawl was second place, I'd start with a Tavern theme. That said a Nautical Docks theme could be more unique and get more attention since its not what you would typically find from other 3d artists.

I would like to add some workers to my town diorama. Things I missing, for example, a juggler, the guy that reads the news (not sure the name in English sorry) , somebody repairing something (nailing, sawing) someone who lights the lights of the street lamps, a policeman (kind of) a lady of the night, a middle-ages version of someone who sells replicas in the trenchcoat, a fortune-teller ...

I'm in the camp of using miniatures for tactical play, whether it is combat or encounters where positions are important. Having said that, if Townsfolk are going to be a reoccurring theme, how about the idea of a VVM town. You could focus on a certain trade or residential district, even diving into different demographics of the town for each release. Eventually you could populate a small village or town. I'd look toward one of the D&D adventure settings like Phandalin or Saltmarsh for easy NPC references.

An alchemist would be nice indeed

Hmm good info to have! Thanks! As we need to grow and these pasts months have been really slow, we're testing the water, looking at what works or not! That's why we added more combat focussed theme (Bandits!), we'll see how the future vote goes!

I'm sure you will! :) I'm just bummed it wasn't something more encounter based. Your miners, prisoners, etc sell ok but the clerics, vampires, rangers, and gladiators outsell them 20 to 1. From a merchant standpoint, it's hard to charge the same price for a farmer npc as an action pose of a gladiator, but they cost the same to make. So they end up being a bit of a dud. But the bases still sell well, and I'm sure some of these townsfolk will as well. You guys are really talented artists and I look forward to it either way. It's just that this month, I'll be more excited for the bases than the figures.

Could we have attractive Townfolk class like a Poet, flower seller girl (not thinking at all about Aerith FF7), a potion dealler / herborist, architect or technician...

I think covering some unique characters is important: As stated by Justin, we already have most of the major "staples" of a town in spades. I think making characters that YOU believe would be useful to have when setting the scene of a town will be important.

Nick Porterfield

Woops :D Yeah le'ts NOT redo 2020!!!

This theme is a NPC focussed, as noted in the polls. So no combats here, we're trying to alternate, as people all need different things. All these themes are more specific and will need their own months!

Why would the poor guy be naked? xD No seriously, varying races will be needed I believe indeed!

Pets would indeed be great

François Dumont

And we can have a dwarf not naked or over armoured ... simply walking on the sun with town robes

Antonio Miguel Martorell Ferriol

I only use minis as encounters for my players (as I'm sure many do) so I had say, it's better if the minis can be used as ennemy NPCs. I'm not sure it would be categorised as townfolks but I would love a bunch of gipsys (with a caravan as terrrain), a thieve guild (but we have thieves this month so maybe not yet but thieves kids would be great as well), a full town guard, the members of a magic academy, etc.

François Dumont

You seem to be in an endless loop, restarting 2020..... I think most of us just wish 2020 dies and goes to hell ;) :( >>And the starting month of 2020 will be Townfolks 01!

PUGDOG Enterprises, Inc.

different races for sure, ages(children, old folks), pets, towns folk terrain

mike wood

I get the idea, but also the themes never won before...So aren't we ''cheating'' if we choose a specific theme now that townfolks have won? Really wondering haha!

I like this one

DustlessOrphan

Hmmm, artisans that you don't have in your collection yet? Jewl merchant, baker, flower lady/lad, antiques merchant

Matija Andrić

I think my preference would be a theme like market or docks, with some scatter to set the scene.

For sure need to dig deeper!

I have no doubt we will, personnaly :D It's virtually endless here. We just need to avoid doing basic humans villagers with ''cheap'' clothes as it's too often seen.

Hmm. Not sure how to make this one interesting.

Chris Wade

I love townsfolk and NPCs. It's an overdone category as we have plenty of innkeepers, stable boys etc. I say go the unique route and give us some NPCs that no one else has
