Bust test! What do you think?

As some people suggested in our Discord, I did a bust using the orc. Added some slight details here and there, but overall it's the same model.

What do you think about this? I could do a bust here and there if I find a mini cool for this format. Most likely not making it a definitive thing at 1st, but if people like them it's a cool bonus I believe!

Let me know :D

Slow response here, but I like it, and the way it's cut.

Tytantroll has tome chess pieces set I believe if you are looking for that!

That's good to hear then. And I also just read Jazion's comment about making good Chess pieces, I've never thought of that as an idea! :D

I get that... but with it missing the rest of the arm, it looks way off-balance composition-wise because so much more mass is on only one side. Sure, the majority of the mass is in the center, and you can put a weight inside to hold it upright regardless... but it just looks off-balance because of the mass distribution, and the majority of busts either forego the arms, or have both, so it looks out of place like that, compared to other famous ancient or less known modern busts (such as those from other Patreon creators). It might perhaps work better with part of both arms, instead of one full... but, eh, it is your creation no matter what. Just saying all that as someone whose past experiences in museums and learning a bit of art composition is enough to know why it looks off to me, instead of solely that it does. I definitely couldn't make something a hundredth the quality in a month, though it does seem off for a reason.

So hear my reason of why it's like that haha! Both to me doesn't work, the right hand is too low and it's just bulky. I tried to cut both and it's just...a head? And it removes the context of the posing so I have a hard time finding it cool (I sculpted the rest so for sure it looks weird to me without) My idea with the left arm only, is that it creates a cool forward motion, giving her a brawler aspect, it has a cool silhouette to me and a lot of energy. Obviously it's my feeling about it, and I understand that people who want it differently but can't really do 3 versions just for a test bonus haha!

Oh 100% won't ever be the focus! It's just a bonus if a pose lends itself to be a bust sometimes!

Thank you!!!

Good timing :D

Good to hear! As it's quick to do I feel like it's a fun bonus, but of course won't ever be the main focus, it's just a little plus!

It's clearly not going to remove any minis from the release, it's like a couple hours of work max, I wanted to test it as a bonus as some people expressed the interest here and there! That's why I'm using a sculpt already done, it's just a matter of cutting it and adding a couple of details, clearly not going to sculpt anything just to be a bust!

Hahaha I hear that, haven't painted minis in a year I think :D

Don't give them idea!! xD Yeah I can see that for sure!

I think I would like it more if it had the full arm for both arms. I get having it truncate with the torso, but it would look better with either both missing arms at the shoulder, or having both. I personally would prefer having both.

Fine - but deffinitely not here for busts!

Would be a nice opportunity to practice painting skills. The orc bust looks great! @Jimmy if it just means chopping up current models it's a win win...

I absolutely love it! Really looking forward to it!!

I've been recently looking for some busts. And it looks like I have found it. Thank you.

I think they look fantastic but not something I would likely print. I am not sure there would be a market for it in my shop. Great job though. The sculpting is really outstanding.

I'm not really keen on Busts, I already have too much junk laying around. And if it meant taking up your mini making time to make busts, I'd vote no. Love your work otherwise.

Jimmy Trinket

Awesome! Now my biggest issue is making time to paint it. Too many projects…. But very nice to have the option!

Kevin Walker

Yo, that's awesome. They'd make good chess pieces if scaled right too.
