Recap , future plans, and thoughts, come have a read!

Hey everyone! How are we doing! Image is just for attention haha!

Been a while since I haven't made one of these posts, always good for you to know a bit what is happening in the background!

1 - Future releases plans :

Using your suggestions, and what we want to do, I'll give you a rough list of what I think will happen in the following months!

To be really clear, it's not in any specific order! We'll pick what we feel like doing at the time being!

So, you can expect :

-Human knights set

-Human bandits set

-Rat folks set

-Dwarves soldiers set

-Modular worker set (farmers, merchants, lumberjacks..)

-Non-human bandits set

-Modular mages set

And more, but won't list them all it would be too long haha!

2 - Set part of the releases revolving around a ''range'' mentality :

As you have seen with the guards ,I want to have a rotation in the sets system (randomized though, not all the time the same I think), where I can have themes done a second time, to had more options.

So for exemple, in 6 months maybe I could be doing another set of gnolls, so the Gnolls range is increasing in size. Same with Goblins, I could do a V2 , etc etc.

Ruffians for exemple fits the Human range, since they are compatible with guards. Future humans will also add to their range.

3 - Set size, and content!

As you have seen since we started this Set / heroes / scatters, system last year, the set size is usually between 6-10 modular - pre-builts.

For September and October, I tried adding mounted troops, at the expense of scatters. Sadly, even though it was a huge amount of work, it wasn't really popular and made no change to our following, it happens :D

After spending time analizing our statistics on MyMiniFactory, I realized that scatters are widly apprecaited, so I think it would be great to have them back, and honestly it's stuff I use myself too on the table, so it's just fun to do more.

So they'll now be up again on the menu as much as possible, instead of going to far with mounts and such (so far, who knows in the future how it could go if we gain people etc)

I'll be focussing on warband style, instead of trying too much to be wargaming inspired.  That's where I think I can offer my best quality and selection.

Hard capping the set will allow for scatters to be back, and maybe room for hero or side bonus! (As I did in November with the Knight) And just in general..work a few less late night haha!

4 -
Modularity and pre-builts : The return of the drama

Now, the spicy topic :D

As you maaay have read here a few times, and often on Discord, having to do both Modular and pre-builts, while being extremely unproductive,is quite a taxing process over time! And let's not talk about the pre-supporting budget!

I had a good look on our MyMiniFactory store and turns out that :

-Modular set are very popular
-Pre-builts set aren't, at all
-Some individual pre-builts have never sold, not even once!

While I can see it being interesting for humans, since heads and arms are all in parts, I'm not sure it's as much worth it for sets like the Gnolls for exemple, where only hands are modular and it's a 30sec job to glue it.

Even for humans, it's a huge amount of work that could be used for MORE stuff, but I understand that it's annoying for merchants!

Annnd that will be it :D

As usual, if you want to help, please share our links around you! Post prints, painted models, talk about us, etc!

Thanks a LOT everyone for your huge support over the years, or months, we are really lucky to be able to do this for a living, wouldn't be possible without you all, obviously!

I really like having a character on occasion who is represented on foot as well as mounted. Even one every few months is great for me. There are a zillion mounted fighters, but wizards apparently walk everywhere.

David Ammann

This sounds great! I for one and thrilled for Human and Non-human bandits! I have yet to find a set of bandits that fit the style of miniatures I like so I have faith you'll knock it out of the park! I'm also excited for the workers set you mentioned. Keep up the great work!

MechaMideel

Yeah, a month of mounted only, rather than troops / mounted is not a bad idea at all!! Could experiment with this for the guards at some points!

Mounted versions for every release was definitely courageous and too much but a good experiment, I wouldn't mind seeing the occasional 'range' expansion that focusses on mounts for an existing group and not much else though.

Yeah understandable! Modular aren't going away that's for sure. Sadly mounts weren't a hit, we aren't really a wargaming focussed Patreon, there are many out there who do it better , for many reasons (more artists, no modularity ,fully focussed on wargame...). The huge amount of work for no benefits isn't worth it right now, maybe someday if we grow more, who knows?

For me, the biggest reason I love the modulars is actually two, split 50/50. 1- Customization. Just great to be able to. 2- Cost: I find many prefix, solo models to be priced at a range that actually has them at or over the price point for buying say, Reaper or From Etsy. That is, onve you take into account my tine and Resin. So from an economics standpoint, its just better for modular. As per scatter vs. mounts? I do tend to like mounts more, as I purely Resin print, not FDM. The mounts also open the door to wargaming units, not having them as an option reduces that benefit by quite a bit to me.

Brandon Mitchell

I must say I love your Goblins on scarabs. And i like mounted troops.

Christian van den Boom

For what it's worth. I chase the mounts and avoid the scatter.

Joshua Plunkett

The panthers looked good and fitted the theme of the Darksun orks. Unfortunately, not a lot of people use Darksun orcs. I'll add fuel to the fire by sayings the scarabs were effectively not that great as mounts. For faeries maybe, but that is usually not the image for goblins.

Francois Leclerc

Oh that's reverse, modular aren't going away! I mean, I shot myself in a foot a bit with my panthers and scarabs hahah!!

Came here to say all of this. While I do have a couple other creators I support, the best stuff comes from right here. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us!

While I understand that you may want to create more models rather than keeping the modular stuff, you have to realize that when the options of the modular builds are good, WE can build a lot more models than you can come up with in that month. Take the guards for example, I have a lot more models of guards in various poses and situations that there are days in a month. And I get the guards that I like. I've never been a big crossbow fan so any guard with a crossbow is far less interesting to me. While others dislike bows and will go for crossbows all the times. I've got the two Cold steel and magic sets. For me, those are a must for any Frostgrave player. Start there and add the guards, the angry civilians, and other modular sets and WOW, the number of warbands you can create is staggering. Keep the modularity, it's a tremendous asset for me. I agree with the mounts, they are not that popular because people don't necessarily agree on the sort of mount that a race would use. For example, I've seen dwarves on ponies, rams, bears, boars, and what not. So settling on one sort of mount is sure to please only a percentage of your membership. Horses for humans are pretty much a standard but you must not forget pegasi, hippogriff, griffons, and dragons. And I'm probably forgetting a few. That's another area where the modularity is a tremendous bonus over time. Create a standard rider that can accept the weapons (and such) of standing characters, make your mounts compatible with that rider position and across all races ( or even just one race ) and as the collection grows, the options grow exponentially. It's a simple concept but I never said it was necessarily easy.

Francois Leclerc

Really appreciated! Thanks a lot for the kind words, means a lot :D Thanks for sticking with us!!

Thanks for the update. Yours is currently the only print subscription I have and it’s the only I will keep without a second thought. I love the style of everything you guys publish. It’s reminds me of of some of my favorite store bought classic miniatures while being completely unique. Keep up the great work and try whatever you want to. I’ll be here for it all.
