[BRONZE] Fate/Zero (Episode 21) "Knight on Two Wheels"

Comments

Things are coming to a head as the climax approaches. This post will largely be dealing with how the Fate universe deals with multiple timelines as it was briefly brought up during the episode regarding exactly how Fate/Stay Night works timeline wise. Timelines in Fate solely with respect to Fate/Stay Night: Fate/Stay Night has three main possible timelines (with some subbranches within those main branches) that branch from the events of Fate/Zero and each separate timeline brings a different female character into prominence and the events of each route are very different story wise as a result of different events taking place. I will not be posting spoilers for Fate Zero or Fate/Stay Night events that have yet to occur. By virtue of watching Fate Zero, you have/will spoil yourselves on important reveals/twists that occur in specific routes/timelines The three timelines are: Fate - This route/timeline is supposed to be experienced first and Saber is the female character who receives the most focus. By watching Fate/Zero you already know that she is King Arthur and understand what she wants the Holy Grail for. Unlimited Blade Works - This route/timeline is the second one that is supposed to be experienced and it focuses primarily on Rin. Heavens Feel - This route/timeline focuses primarily on Sakura and the fact that Sakura and Rin are sisters was a major reveal in this route which you already know from watching Fate Zero. If you start watching any of the subsequent Fate/Stay Night anime series, I would make it a rule to not look up any information on any servant whose True Name has not been revealed because in one or more of those routes you could massively spoil yourself, or even just avoid looking things up altogether. I really really hope the comments section will not spoil any of the big twists. I mentioned this in a prior comment, but the routes are meant to be experienced in a particular order because certain elements that are either first revealed or hinted at in an initial route will be expounded on or become important story elements or questions that are raised but not answered in one route will be answered in either the subsequent route or by the end of Heaven's Feel. Each of the three (3) timelines is a true timeline and none overrides any of the others. How Multiverse works in the Typemoon Universe as a whole: So this section will explain some of the more complicated aspects of how the multiverse functions in Typemoon because there are some unique aspects not found in other multiverses. This involves lore that was initially revealed throughout Fate/Grand Order Cosmos in the Lostbelt (Part 2 of the game's story), which currently does not have any anime projects announced, though I think it is possible or even likely we'll get an anime season dealing with at least one of the "parts" of Cosmos in the Lostbelt. I will not be spoiling any particular story beats and will just be discussing multiverse mechanics. In the Typemoon Multiverse, timelines are divided into two categories: (1) those that are part of the Chronicle Theoretical Phenomenon (or Proper Human History) or those subject to the Pruning Theoretical Phenomenon (or Lostbelts). Proper Human History consists of timelines where it is still possible for human history to advance and have not diverged from any of the key points in history that have been secured by the Counter Force as Quantum Timelocks. Lostbelts are timelines where specific events have occurred that result in that timeline becoming stagnant (humanity is either incapable of or no longer has the need to advance) or it has diverged too significantly from Proper Human History such as not having a Quantum time locked event. In order to prevent these timelines from draining too much energy from the Proper Human History timelines, these timelines are pruned and end at the moment they became stagnant or diverged too much from Proper Human History. I can give broad examples of how this can occur in a future comment, but that could potentially spoil any future anime series telling the events from Cosmos in the Lostbelt. I hope this helps and that you found it interesting.
