VIOLET (UNRELEASED MUSIC VIDEO)
Added 2023-11-08 19:31:31 +0000 UTCA few months ago I put together a rough edit of a music video for my recent single VIOLET (FEAT. KUČKA) using clips of "Tribes", a 10-minute demoscene video from the 90s. I was watching a bunch of old demoscene compilations on YouTube one night while listening to my new EP to see if I could find any visual inspirations. When I came across Tribes everything seemed to instantly synchronize with VIOLET as it played. I really love the Super NES/PS1 style graphics as they evoke a deep nostalgia for my youth, and it connects me to when I first started making music in trackers.
Anyhow, I found the contact of one of the creators of the original video and reached out to see if they would let me repurpose the video for my own use. At first, they seemed interested but weren't sure if it would be cleared since there were multiple people involved in creating the original Tribes demo. Eventually, and sadly, they stopped responding at a certain point and we had to move on.
My original intention was to replace the text that's currently in the video with relevant text to the song. For example, instead of Tribes, it would say VIOLET, our artist names, and lyrics at the part where its more 2D animation. It is still kinda cool without any of that, and it's really a shame we weren't able to drop it officially. Also, we were going to replace the intro logos with my newly Designers Republic rendered MD logo and some other fun ones.
