Episode 30: No Time To Die (Live)

We finally did it. At 19:30 on the 8th of April, we slew the coward James Bond in front of an audience of 125 at the Streatham Space Project. This is the audio of that event.

Episode 30: No Time To Die (Live)

Comments

Having just watched this movie I think if anything they slightly lowballed the M score for the absolutely abysmal way Bond treats Madeleine at the beginning of the movie. He goes from totally loved up to physically violent the second he has any reason to be suspicious of her and becomes physically violent in a borderline Connery way, shoving her and then dragging her out of the hotel by the arm. I found the scene where they’re in the car surrounded by henchmen shooting at them and he’s sitting silently while Madeleine begs him to talk to her or do something genuinely disturbing, bordering on triggering. Forcing someone to beg you to respond to them is classic abuser shit and he turns it on like a tap the second he has the flimsiest reason to doubt her. It’s genuinely grim to watch.

Another addition to the realm of Naming Things: Project Heracles, the project which definitely wasn't meant to kill your entire family

Princess Gwynevere

I watched every mainline episode and most bonus episodes within the last 7 days. It was a good refresher on my namesake (my dad is literally the stereotypical type of dad they've mentioned multiple times, to the extent *he named me James and tried to convince my mom to give me the middle name "Bond"*) The best things about these movies is that they led to this podcast. Excellent work KJB.

Plan A to Y

She doesn't say "I have three weeks of training, period", she says "I trained for this specific thing for three weeks". And just before she is catapulted out of the movie, Bond and her have this "3 weeks ?" "Eh, more or less" banter that underlines the fact that she's been a badass all along really ; she had simply been playing the ditz. Because... well, because Joss Whedon, sure, fine, whatever. All the moreso that Ana de Armas kinda looks like Eliza Dushku, but STILL.

Kobal Deux

Having FINALLY seen the bad movie ; I think y'all have been too harsh and/or misinterpreted the character played by Ana de Armas.

Kobal Deux

I realize objectively that this movie is ass, it has so much bad dialogue, it sidelines multiple female characters, it has a plot and a villain that make truly no sense - but I'll admit the heroic self-sacrifice ending in this movie does still make me emotional. He literally dies staring out at the sunset while an incredible Hans Zimmer score plays like it's Gladiator. This is because, like Devon, I am also a rube.

Anton Davydovski

I finally watched this silly ass movie and I have to say, also love that one-off character, Paloma and I'm glad she didn't stick around bc I fear they'd of bumped her off.

Mel Vitta

The R Budd Dwyer/Filter bit had me in painful hysterics

Nah

No time to die... for this beautiful podcast! Formal apologies for the dad joke.

Youngstown

Thank you all of you for this, so fucking good

Mark Hardgrove

should've called him a VQber

NecroPotato

Bless you, that was great. I'm not crying, you're crying. Can I just share my puddle of nanobots theory though with the only audience that may appreciate it which is that it represents the pool of sharks/piranhas/alligators. But we're in high tech transhuman future now so they're tiny tiny robot things. Thank you. See you on the other side of Bond.

Cate Kneale

Lmao nanobots and joker Blofeld, skyfall was already masturbating to the dark knight but this is absurd. I miss when they made a film about someone trying to monopolise a countries water supply

Christine Pizan

This is a weird new experience for me, I'm listening to a discussion about a james bond movie I haven't seen for the first time, Wow does this make everything sound weirder

Christine Pizan

The touching statement about masculinity and emotions at the end really got me

Noblesse Oblahaj

Ladies and gentlemen, we got him

Ernest Goes To Bed

The same guy is dead, long live the same guy

The Beak TM

Wish I could have been there

The Beak TM

This was delightful and the audio quality was streets ahead of other live podcasts

Rosalind Northey

If the unspecified goop mustn't be allowed to settle, it sure would be more convenient if we had some sort of... wiggler

-Kris-

“You have to have been living as 007 for two years” absolutely killed me, against my better judgement

dm

9:44 the person in that back who went "kitchen gun" at the end there put me in stitches😭

Ice-Chewing Empath

They did point out the similarities to that one Hitman level. This movie is a much worse version of a lot of things.

OvO Hoot

Suprised you didn't point out this is basically a much worse "Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots" complete with combining the Nano-Machines and Foxdie. Wich is ironic because "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" is basically the most James Bond inspired Metal Gear game. Although all of them have a bit of Bond in them.

Strike3

Watched this with my parents about a month ago. Awful movie, easily the most hateable besides the old ones that are just racist pamphlets. Unbelievably excited to hear you'll do Master and Commander!

OvO Hoot

Legendary, great job

Cecily McGowan

i’m a student so i don’t have a bunch of expendable income, but i say this with COMPLETE honesty that the 8 dollars is actually a totally worthy investment. love this show a lot o7

Anthony

Nate is incredibly powerful

Lyra

I could have been the vtuber in the crowd...

Lyra

You have to kill the James Bond in your head EDIT: the second I said this, Alice said it o7

howl's moving pictures by rush

Shout out to the audience member at 2:07:44 who made an owl noise when Dev said "hooting crowd"

Em Sculfor

I feel like you really missed an opportunity to have 007 (real) for Naomi and 007 (provisional) for James Bond. The moment I hear the word (real) I immediately think of the RA.

Calum Ferguson

We got'em everybody!

scara b

Listening to a live show where the audio is on the same level as the regular podcast impresses me probably more than it should, lol

Brett Owen

Ladies, gentlemen and non-binary persons... We got him.

ZombieDwarf

One smart fellow he felt smart, two smart fellows they felt smart

Not going to lie, I read that "Live" as meaning alive. No Time To Die/Live

Mission Accomplished

Jon W

Feel as if I need to get dressed up to listen to this.

Cate Kneale

hugh dennis being shot in the head utterly annihilated the films tone for me. mock the week hasn't been quite the same since.

CAE

There's something poetic about one of the furthest flung colonies being the first to receive word that they did indeed Kill Jame Bonds. Guess I'm staying up til at least 0230

RBK

This was the best notification I’ve ever received

LemonyNose

Wooh!
