If you liked this movie and want similar themes from a novel except intentionally trans by a trans writer and with a brighter ending, I'd really recommend 'Kimmy' by Alyson Greaves! Listening to this I was just like "oh the Kimmy vibes, the Kimmy vibes!". It's robots instead of dolls, but the 'dehumanisation & gender' theme is similarly strong.

Also the konbini egg sandwiches are pretty good but the real move is French-inspired Japanese bakeries - I'm back home now but my heart yearns for bougie bakery currypan.
