Also McClane gets shot out of the tunnel much in the same way a guy famously did so working on the Hudson tunnel which I think they covered on WTYP Also I know it was a joke but John McClane as Mr. undiagnosed ADHD really fucking fits

Kubrick and Nicholson gaslighted Duvall and used her fears against her will to build up fears. This is shoddy directing and lousy acting. I do not want Shining on KJB for this reason ever. I do not want to watch or have fun from art when somebody was intentionally harmed without their consent in making it. Woe to directorbros and actorbros who do it to colleagues (and woe to anybody else who harms people during work).

Two stable liquids becoming explosive only after mixing, isn't quite obvious for blood laws, racial supremacy and other nazi/eugenics mythology. Very visual metaphor and foreshadowing for the politics of the movie.

She had never acted before but - per interviews she gave at the time of the film's release - the director saw her on the black and white film noir-ish cover of her then-recent album, Martinis & Bikinis, and decided he wanted to cast her in the role. She initially turned down the role because she was not an actress but he kept asking so she eventually agreed on the condition that he make her character mute because she feared she wouldn't be able to deliver lines. He agreed and the rest is history. I was already a big fan of hers at the time and I lost my mind when I saw her in the film when I watched it in the cinemas - she was the reason I went back to see it a second time. Cuz that's my level of music nerditude.
