Snake Plissken is deployed into a post-Big One L.A., an area designated by the new christofascist US Government as the dumping ground for all criminals, to retrieve a superweapon stolen by the President's daughter- who was radicalised psychically by an L.A. Revolutionary leader.
Joining us to tackle this is L.A. resident and actor, Morgana Ignis! Star of Helluva Boss, Class Acts, and of course Dracula's Ex-Girlfriend!

2025-01-25 08:59:56 +0000 UTCThey've often discussed a bond film free from the british government and as politically neutral as possible...and yet when one came, it was ivory tower upper crust white gentlemen spies declaring themsevles the divine arbiter of right and wrong in the world, beholden to absolutely no one...it is very funny that the villains are every rich, famous and powerful person on the planet, except 500 of them who are utterly dismayed that their fellows are that ready to murder everyone else on the planet so they can keep partying. It thus is a very eat the rich movie whilst not really analysing how the 'good guys' are exactly the same as the bad guys, only determined to maintain the status quo rather than kill all the poor outright.

MGS is often called unsubtle but it's a series thats very sincere and it's trying to say something something real about or world, it's not werid pro military imperialism slop like a lot of other modern military media is. That kind of sincerity really resonates with people in a way that sticks. 2. Snakes personality is rather diffrent then most action protagonists. Hes not constantly trying to be macho or one up people, hes never cruel for the sake of a joke, even to his enemies. He actually shows the people he fights a lot of respect. He doesn't feel the need to show off or prove himself, he knows who he is. 3. The game is largely about people who live on the edges of normal society, and the narrative or snake is never mean to them about their identites or lives. Marginalized people probably really can identitify with that in a way most media won't let them. I could honestly say more about why MGS is so beloved compared to like, splinter cell or rainbow 6 but I would need to write a whole essay, might be a good topic for a video essay honestly
