FREE PALESTINE

Hey, Devon here. In our home, we talk a lot about how insane everything feels, and agonise constantly over what can be done to best help the Palestinians trapped in Gaza facing the full brunt of genocidal violence. My partner Rebecca has put together a list of four fundraisers you can contribute to- all of them are at work on the ground doing what they can.

-Palestinian Communist Youth Union, which is doing a food and water effort, and is part of the official communist party of Palestine

-Water is Life, a water distribution project in North Gaza affiliated with an Indigenous American organization and the Freedom Flotilla

-Vegetable Distribution Fund, which secured and delivers fresh veg, affiliated with Freedom Flotilla also

-Thamra, which distributes herb and veg seedlings, repairs and maintains water infrastructure, and distributes food made with replanted veg patches

I do not understand sex work. If the point is just to get your rocks off, then just hook up with someone or do it on your own? If you really want to do it with someone, then I can't imagine how you're supposed to separate the intimacy or the sort of mutual possessiveness that sex involves from the act. That's just how emotions work. If you're just having sex with them for the physical pleasure and nothing else, then what's the point? Turning sex into a transactional thing just completely ruins it, and makes everything worse. I'm not going to not have at least some sympathy for the client, because the unequal relationship between them and the sex worker is what's enabling and encouraging them to think they have more of a connection or just privilege to the worker than they do. And if you're married, just don't be a client. Just don't cheat.

Would 'The Craft' count as a film for religion season? I love that movie..

I'm reading the title of the movie in the same cadence as "vegas baby vegas" and I don't know why

Loved this discussion! The chat at the end about "movies that don't have any acting them" and "gallery installations" made me think of Robert Bresson's 'The Pickpocket' and his notion of not using actors, but Human Models who were to act as little as possible, to allow the cinematography to be the language.
