You are correct. Even though my favorite aircraft of WW2 is the Mosquito, the P-38 is the better looking plane.

2026-02-02 00:12:59 +0000 UTCI'm gonna make November mad at me. The P-38 was more beautiful than the Spitfire. I will brook no argument, because you're wrong.

2026-02-01 02:48:12 +0000 UTCSo in the middle of Kansas in the middle of nowhere is an amazing space museum, the Kansas Cosmosphere. It is weirdly incredible, having a sputnik 1 and 2 and the training lunar rover and lander and the actual apollo 13 command module and a ton of other eyeboggling shit I was not expecting to see there (at the time it claimed to have the largest collection of Apollo/Gemini stuff outside DC and the largest collection of soviet space stuff outside Moscow). Anyhoo i mention this because you go in and it is all like YAY SPACE SHIT COOL and there is some stuff in the big lobby including an SR-71 hanging overhead and you pay your money and go into this tunnel which is quite dark and over the tunnel is a big portrait of fucking HITLER and the music inside is somber and talks about the history of modern rocketry and how we got there and is not shy in saying how much human life this cost and what kind of shit they did to do it (you can also see a slide rule used by Von Braun and another by his soviet counterpart whose name I forget) and at the end of the tunnel (which ends in a display of one of the handful of remaining intact V1 and V2 rockets extant) it is basicaly hey you are about to see some cool shit and space rules but just remember all this shit has one wing dipped in blood, have a good time. Huge rec if you are ever in the middle of Kansas. You can tour a salt mine in the same town which is used to store old movie shit so make a day of it!

2026-01-31 16:13:28 +0000 UTCI think I first learned about the V1 and V2 programs from Battlestar Galactica 1980 so I'm sure this will be just as historically rigorous
