Misty Pass

The trees become fewer in number and smaller in stature as the trail winds up into higher elevation. The lush boreal forests of the foothills give way to alpine terrain, with delicate lichens covering the talus fields and verdant mosses hanging from the thinning spruce. Snowmelt drives a cascading brook over the switchbacks and into a ravine, with a simple wooden bridge providing several feet of clearance over one of its waterfalls.
