I like the development on Alex's emotions and the part about his party was great. The romance however just doesn't fit. Her beating him up last chapter doesn't make sense in the context of the story or the tone of both chapters. Also the relationship feels far too one sided. Just doesn't add up and only serves to make Alex look worse. Alex has no power in the relationship, either physically or emotionally and Laura has no reason to be in the relationship other than pity.
