The story behind The Ball
Added 2023-07-01 04:09:52 +0000 UTCThere are ideas that are only vague ideas and you never know how they will turn out. The Ball was one of those shoots. I had a studio booked and on the way to the studio, the model that was lined up to meet me there flaked on me.
So with too much time booked in the studio and not enough models to fill it I jumped on instagram and put a distress call out. My mate Troy who was lined up to do his first shoot with me a week later responded to that call and got himself to the studio quick smart.
The concept was vague. Create some shapes with this fitness ball, experiment and see what we can come up with. Was it my favourite shoot? No, but do I like it? Yes. There is a simplicity that I like and the fact that Troy has no real shyness to speak of worked well. His hairless tanned body works really well with the shiny silver ball and simple backdrop.
I've had a few shoots now where someone has had to cancel or has just flaked and the replacement model has actually been better than the original. Thank goodness for those guys willing to jump at the opportunity.
