At this time in two weeks from now, my opening night celebrations for my exhibition will be winding down. After making the decision about 15 months ago to work towards an exhibition it feels very strange that it is coming up so soon but that is the whole point.
Ask any creative working on a passion project and they'll tell you the emotional rollercoaster that is the process behind it. There have been moments of self doubt, moments where I lost my way a little creatively and moments of pure enjoyment and excitement.
This image of Mitch above is one of the images that didn't make the cut to be on the wall in the gallery but will be in the download that I will release at some point after the exhibition closes. Why did it not make the cut? It just doesn't match the gallery images. There was a period in the process of working on the series where every shoot I did, especially the studio shoots, I tried to shoe-horn the shoot into an exhibition image and this one just didn't work.
I've ended up with a selection of images I'm incredibly proud of, ranging from studio to outdoor to underwater and it is going to be fascinating to see which ones people resonate with the most. From experience with past series, everyone responds to something different.
