Such beautiful inspiration
Added 2023-11-28 08:46:43 +0000 UTCThere is a lot to complain about when it comes to TikTok and some might argue that at my age, I shouldn't be on it but now that I follow a few art accounts, I'm being served more as suggestions and my god there is some talent in this world. Of course for every brilliant artist there are a hundred people with a lot less talent but art can always find an audience.
Recently on TikTok I found out about Ben Ashton, a UK artist born in 1983 who creates these somewhat subversive oil paintings using very classical techniques that then "glitch" or warp referencing popular culture's obsession with filters or exaggeration.
I find this work absolutely beautiful and wish I could afford a print, let alone an original. A couple of years ago I decided I wanted to start buying pieces of art that make me happy, not for their value but for their value to me. Ben's work would make me very happy to have on my wall.
