The story of Blue Skies

Australia is a long way from a lot of the world, so quite often when I see someone on Instagram overseas I resign myself to the fact that it's unlikely our paths will cross. That's what I thought when I saw Kyle but then we ended up chatting. At the time he was working on Cruise ships as a performer and was going to be in Sydney for a day.

We made some plans for what we were going to shoot and after getting up early I went in to the city to collect Kyle. Now, it's only been in the last few years that I've made a concerted effort to discuss beforehand how much a model is willing to show or how far they will go. This shoot was in November 2018 and things have changed even in the last five years. I hadn't thought to ask Kyle about full frontal because it still wasn't that common for models to show everything. Anyone who follows Kyle on twitter these days will know that there really is no limit to what he'll show.

So when we got to the nude beach and we started with Kyle in tiny swimwear, it was a bit of a surprise when they came off and he had no qualms at all about full frontal. With an array of different tattoos on display, a cheeky tanline and some soulful blue eyes, he was a joy to work with. We had him draped over rocks, perched on logs and in the water. The whole time he was laughing and posing up a storm.

I've been lucky that in my very nearly 20 years of shooting the vast majority of my models have been fantastic and Kyle was no exception. Considering we'd barely spoken in the lead up to him being here, it could have all gone very badly but he was so lovely.
