All the way back at the start of my journey photographing male nudes, it was a long time between shoots. In 2004 I had done precisely two nude shoots, both with the same model, Erik. In the summer at the start of 2005 I was enjoying the sun on my favourite nude beach as I am prone to do and noticed Andy. He may not be very tall but his body and his look were intriguing.
To be honest I have no idea how I worked up the courage to chat to him but I did. Thankfully Andy is a great guy who is just full of fun and positivity. It's a risky thing as a gay photographer who is asking a straight man, both of you nude on the beach, to pose for you especially as a complete amateur. It turned out he was doing some stripping so that explained his confidence and freedom and why he was so ready to say yes.
It was only a few weeks later I believe when we caught up early in the morning to do our first shoot together. We went on to do four more shoots together over the next 7 years. Sadly Andy and I have lost touch in the years since but I do know he's happily married now. Sadly for the rest of the world he's not stripping any more.
Working with models repeatedly is always something I enjoy. Each time brings something new and added trust and comfort. If you want to see the full Andy download, click here.
