The story of Shine

The apartment I was living in a few years back was the apartment I started the In My Bed series of downloads but before that I had just barely enough space to rig up a bit of a home studio. A friend had let me borrow his basic studio lights and I ended up doing a few shoots in that apartment.

For this series of the gorgeous Fagner, I bought a whole bunch of sheets of silver reflective cardboard thinking it might look like a metal wall. Of course it didn't. Cardboard is very different to actual sheets of metal and by virtue of sticking them to the wall with blu-tak (that could be just an Australian brand) it means they don't sit flush. The end result was actually pretty cool and almost looked like silver 3D panels.

Fagner is a model who I have sadly lost touch with but is so beautiful it's ridiculous. He had never posed nude before and I'm not sure he's done it since but he was an absolute delight. From memory he is Brazilian and those Brazilian guys just don't seem to suffer from insecurity. There was not a trace of arrogance with Fagner which I love. Confidence and arrogance are two very different traits.

Maybe it's time to get back in touch with Fagner and see if he wants to shoot again. Five and a half years is too long. Check out the full series here.

I think the silver reflective cardboard works great. Has a bit of depth unlike true metal

Such incredible clarity in the images. A triumph!
