It is fair to say that my first two photography exhibitions were quite stark in their difference to each other. Shrouded was all studio, black and white moodiness while Freedom was all outdoor and much more positive in it's vibe. As with any event you're passionate about and feel like it went well, you dive in to doing it again to capture that feeling and I really wanted to see if I could bring some of the more conceptual stuff from the studio, into the outdoor shoots, merging the two exhibitions.
As you can see, for a couple of shoots I tried a bit of tribal inspired face paint on the models but I really hadn't thought it through prior. A little bit of face paint does not make a strong visual concept. So that plan was scrapped.
In the end I did use a lot of face/body paint for my next exhibition Tribe but that was all photographed back in a studio setting. To me it made a lot more sense than a half-baked mashup that I had attempted. Maybe one day that hybrid vibe will make a more considered comeback.
