There is a photographer and artist that I have admired their work for some time. Formerly known as Leonardo Corredor, they are now known by Lea Duque. I've posted a video of theirs before because it sets the standard I want to achieve with my video work and I've been trying to figure out why it works so well.
The previous video was shot at the same time as the one above but I feel like this one was to sit alongside the magazine editorial and the earlier one was an artistic exploration for the photographer and less related to the magazine. They both share the same aesthetic and mood.
I think it's the choice of music and the way the music cuts in and out, alongside ambient location noise. Typically I have edited my videos to be chronological but these are not a linear sequence but vignettes intercut with b-roll. These two videos really do still hold up as my gold star. They are a little reminiscent of the videos from Bruce Weber whom I've always admired (apart from problematic accusations).
