Who knows how my brain works at times? I had managed to organise a photo shoot with the gorgeous Mitch, a professional, international fashion model. We were going to be doing some shots for what became two downloads and hopefully an image for my exhibition. The second half of the shoot I took this stunning man and covered him in clay for some reason because you know, fight the hot, right?
For the first half of the shoot, we had done all the poses and potential images for the exhibition and I had it in my head that working with a professional would be the best possible time to try out a completely new concept that I had not even remotely tested.
Inspired by a Peter McKinnon video on youtube I held a mirror right up to the lens of my camera to catch slashes of reflection. In Peter's video he did it to reflect product (from memory) and just create an interesting effect and he was using a tripod. The way I work a tripod doesn't work and I wanted full slashes of the model so I was holding the camera in one hand, and the mirror taped to a rigged up handle in the other trying not to smash the lens with the mirror and compose decent images. Surprisingly, I think it worked and I've gone on to do it again with Jim and Axle.
