In July 2015 I spent a week in Copenhagen where I finally got to meet and hang out with the lovely Mikael. We'd met through my blog at the time and he took the time to show me around and even proved his claim that you see the Danes skinnydipping in the centre of city in the harbour because there are no laws against nudity.
Eight years later I found myself unexpectedly in Copenhagen for a night instead of just arriving there to go straight to the airport and fly home. We can thank the Scandinavian weather for that hassle. It did lead to catching up with Mikael over a drink that night which is where we decided we'd make the most of my tiny hotel room and do a relatively impromptu photo shoot the next morning.
We had to work with some limited lighting, just using the light coming in the window. Because of the aforementioned weather though, the lighting was nice and soft. In our previous shoot in 2015 Mikael had been comfortable nude but hadn't let me release any full frontal. Those modest requirements were long gone on this shoot and it was the first shoot I believe where Mikael had gone full frontal, erect and shown his face.
It was during this catch up that Mikael told me there really aren't many photographers working with male nudes in that part of the world. It's insane because they are the most beautiful people on the planet. It was the conversation that started my dream of being able to travel the world photographing beautiful men. We are still a long way off that happening sadly, but working towards it.
