Learning Magic - Berk (part 1)

Berk: hey Tay, ummm you know how you're like really good at magic... Tay: is there something you need? Berk: could you teach ,me magic? Tay: teach you? Magic? Berk, may i ask why so sudden? You've never had to use Magic for anything. Magic is a crutch for the weak to try and grasp at power they do not understand. So my question is why do you need it? Berk:... I'm... I just feel inadequate... I may be strong but there's only so much I can do with my muscles. Whenever you have to deal with magic related threats I just feel so useless. I should be the one to protect you but I can't even stand against it. At most with the suit you gave me I can hold it off but I want to be more useful. I.. I just.. Tay: sigh... fine I'll teach you some magic. But it's not really that simple. Everyone's affinity for magic varies. Elemental types, class magic, subclasses, niches , most people only get to learn one in their entire lifetime and their specialities could be entirely useless. So don't get your hopes up too high. Get dressed. Berk: Okay. I understand. Tay: right then how much do you actually know about magic? Berk: You've, mentioned before that magic is always cost and effect regardless of people. Tay: you are correct. Mana is the most common cost spent and mana is the essence of life. Nothing is created or can exist without mana. Once a living thing runs out of mana it ceases to exist. So even things like necromancy is merely the imbuing of mana into inanimate objects to animate them. No different to that of a golem being created out of mud. Now that said there are of course complexities in how you go about doing it. Do you understand so far? Berk: umm yes. Tay: okay then let's go to the garden. Let's start you off with the basics. Here put this on. It will tell if you can even use magic and how much. Oh would you look at that, you do have aptitude for magic. *hugging Berk* congratulations are in order. Berk: oh well then, what does my lovely wife have in mind? If you keep this up I'm afraid your dashing husband can't bare to let you go. We can forget about the class then just make out here, no one can see us... Tay: hehehe cheeky. *kisses Berk passionately* but we have a class to go through. Berk: if I learn something does daddy get a reward? Maybe in bed later at night? Tay: Berk!! You pervert. Hehehe. But in any case let me show you the basics of mana. *Tay's hands raises as they cross over, rotating inwards before pulling back concentrating a translucent mass between his hands. He raises the orb that turns slowly from what looks like a heatwave to shimmering blue water. The mass continues to build and in an instant draws the wind and even light to it, shaving the wisterias in the garden, the light in the sky stripped in an instant turning the afternoon sky into a stary scapen galaxy. Tay's eyes glimmering as the orb grew to a massive size. But in an instant, Tay releases the orb and everything returned to as it was.* Berk: woahh.. what was that? Tay: that my love is a mana well, its concentrated mana that is absorbed from the world around us. Its easy and a basic concept of the most efficient manipulation of magic. All magic uses mana, the only difference is where that mana is taken from. Its most important that you do not use mana from your own body. Your body should only be a conduit, not a source. Feel the world around you like water on dry land, like wind in still air. Berk: this all sounds very cryptic. Im not sure if i.. Tay: shh shhhh... Just try it, meditation should help. Berk: umm okay I'll give it a go and tell you how it worked out. *Berk sits down and begins to meditate. Trying to feel the mana around him. Silently his fluffy ears twitch, his tail bats at the stone slab he sat on. Nothing happens. 5 hours pass and even then the patient Berk was beginning to get frustrated. He couldn't feel anything differently as Tay told him.* Darrek: Yo Berk!? What you doing just sitting here? Berk: oh hey Dar. I'm trying to learn magic... Darrek: huh that's new. Berk: say how do you use magic? Darrek: Huh? Me? I don't know how to tell you this but I don't use magic. My dragon breath is just a unique ability of my species. It's the same as Viscera being able to fly or Layron being able to deepdive without an oxygen tank. Speaking of, you don't have a unique ability either huh. Berk: Screw you Dar. Darrek: hehee don't worry about it man I still love ya. We're family. Anyways ill leave you to your magic learning. *Berk bothered by Darrek decided to ask other people about magic.
