Late to this conversation and I haven't read the book. The public face of so much of what passes for Christianity has distorted the essential message of Jesus, which is love. The Bible should not be taken literally. It's not a science text or a rule for daily living, though so many see it that way. Shawn, you are a thoughtful and caring person and are living that life whether you know it or not. I'm sorry that you got the burn in hell story drummed into you and apologize for all the people who've been hurt by the distorted message that passes for Christianity or religion in general.

2024-10-30 15:52:04 +0000 UTCnew patron catching up on these but the wild biblical story discussion in this one compels me to share the fact that there is a story in the second biblical book of kings where a group of young men or children (depending on the translation. it’s children in the KJV) keep calling a guy “baldhead” and god sent 2 bears to maul them for calling the dude bald
