WIP 129 - Coming 2023: SSShorts

I actually wanted to release a WIP video today, but didn’t have time, so instead I’ll talk about something I planned to do at year start.

Next year, we’re starting Shorts. These will be released every other week and will take the place of every fifth strip.

The reason for doing them is manyfold:

For one, especially on social media, it’s hard for a “longform” comic (a comic with an ongoing story) to get traction. Short, one panel comic get spread much easier. So, mixing in shorts along the usual comic is a good way for people to take notice of SSS and (hopefully) then check out the main comic.

Especially on places like Reddit, I call it a good day if a comic gets 10 upvotes.

Another reason is that it takes some workload off Elena, who is very busy these days and a short is easier to do than a full comic.

It also gives the chance to give an insight of the SSS world without having to know the characters and background - and a good way to get to know characters without having to go back through the archive.

So, here is a mockup (using an old vote incentive) that I cooked up for the format of the shorts and the sketch of the first actual short that will be aired!
