You should definitely check out his movie Eighth Grade, it is really great and it really hit kinda close to home for me in a mental perspective around school environment..

I don't think there's a piece of art that resonates with me more than Inside. I first watched it when I was at one of the lowest points in my life, and so much about it helped me contextualize my complicated feelings. And now here I am, once again in a difficult rut, comforted to know that those feelings are valid.
Bo beautifully illustrates how your work can be both an obligation and a coping mechanism. He's been metatextual before, but with Inside, we see his struggles with anxiety and depression in full force. He lays himself bare, figuratively and literally, and tells us in no uncertain terms that he is not okay. That the world is not okay. That maybe they're never GOING to be okay. But you keep going and try to laugh in the face of uncertainty because... what else can you do?
Even years after the pandemic, it's so easy to feel trapped. Whether it's by the limitations imposed by society, an audience unreceptive to what you create, or all too often... yourself. Myself. That's how I feel all the time. And so I keep coming back to these songs, not just because they're bops in their own right, but because I need to remind myself that I'm not the only one who feels like this.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Cody, even if it didn't hit you quite like it hit me. And above all else, I hope Bo is happy.
