ENCORE Collection - The Tragic Adventures Of Lard Arse

Hello there

Good morning to you, and welcome to a (soft) encore post, where I bring something out of the Patreon vaults and re-impose it on you.

These have never been released all together though, so that is at least a bit of convenience that I've chucked into the mix.

I was quite surprised by how many there were, I'll be honest.  This was a comic strip I started doing when I first got my iPad. I'd had iPads before, but this was the first time I'd gotten an iPad Pro, and was determined to use it for "pro" things.  We are now two and a half years later, and I am delighted to say I - for once - did manage that. I've done a LOT of work on the iPad Pro.  Even if, secretly, part of the reason I bought it was because I knew I was going on two long plane flights, it has ultimately been a very good work investment.

Whilst I was in America in 2020, I decided to try to do some comic strips.  Not because I want to be a comic artist, or because I thought I could release them properly or anything like that, I'm not entirely deluded, but to try out the iPad drawing and to finally make an idea from many years ago a reality.

The character of Lard Arse goes back to the original days of Big And Daft.  Jon says he doesn't remember, but we discussed a character who's arse was made of lard.  I know "Lard Arse" is a thing people say about weight, but it was far more literal than that. The concept was just that he kept slipping off things and calamities ensued.  Any years later, I mentioned it again with P&G, but could never work out how to incorporate it, and then in 2020 I finally drew a comic strip.  Not an amazing one, and there's only one joke remember, but I had a go.

If I may say so, they're not amazing, but they're also not without their charm.

They also sometimes take a couple of goes to see what's happened in them, but it is there.

Here you go, let's go landscape mode and encore all of them...

There we go - it was never going to run and run, but 25 weekly strips is pretty impressive for one idea.  Or an abject waste of time (which no creative thing ever is thank you).

Hope you've a lovely weekend ahead of you

Sending much love as always
