2024-03-08 23:24:28 +0000 UTCthoughts on something you said at the end i think young royals doesn’t get as much acclaim as it really should is because it’s not an english language show and unfortunately that kind of always keeps it in the “foreign” category 😭 which is really sad imo. this show is just so masterfully made in so many ways

2024-03-02 12:46:23 +0000 UTCThe rowing practice discussion scene with Simon and his friends is meant (I think) to highlight one of the central themes of this series; class. Simon is using this advantage he has fallen into to better himself and, perhaps, move on. His friends are a bit insulted by his attitude. I'm not an expert on Swedish society and particularly the fictional society of Young Royals but I think LIsa is commenting on the Swedish social structure. In the subtitles August calls Simon "socialist." Actually August says "Sosse." Socialist is a reasonable translation but the meaning is more subtle. Sosse has a number of implications but basically means the person it is directed to is of a lower class than the person making the comment. In August's case it's meant as a bit of an insult. Some people have questioned why Simon's friends didn't help Simon more when he attacked August. I think his friends attitude is, we may not be as rich as some others but we are proud. And we just don't behave that way. And, as Simon comments later in season two, rich people have the resources to fight back that we don't. And they get away with stuff that we cant.

2024-02-21 04:50:56 +0000 UTCThat would explain it! Though to be fair, Edwin’s accent when speaking English sounds very American, more than some of the other cast members when they speak English. Still, I appreciate the extra information.

2024-02-20 23:01:31 +0000 UTCDid you notice the symbolism of Football versus Rowing. Football =something real Rowing =fake as water =feelings but Rowing means keeping strokes close to the surface meaning surface friends. Did you notice the Football when Simon spoke to August at Rowing training when the shot was from Willhelms point of view.

2024-02-20 22:46:54 +0000 UTCLast one from me..Omar t shirt and hoodie concert merch are available here. https://merchworld.com/collections/omar Never too old to be a fan girl!
Ruth May
2024-02-20 16:51:31 +0000 UTCYeah, I think so too, but in that conversation with Wille, he implies that maybe Vincent and some others know that he’s gay, but they never talk about it. But that makes sense to me because I think Nils is all about putting on one face in the open and keeping his real self for secret hook ups and behind closed doors in Verbier, a path Wille could have chosen too.

2024-02-20 16:19:43 +0000 UTCIt’s pretty amazing. I am sooo jealous of everyone who was actually there. As Omar seems poised to conquer the world at the moment, maybe he’ll come to the UK in the not too distant future..🤞

2024-02-20 16:13:44 +0000 UTCYoung Royals definitely deserves more recognition on all levels. I’m appreciating all over again how beautifully it’s shot, how music is subtly used to amplify and counterpoint the action, the unmatchable chemistry between Edvin and Omar, how interwoven the whole series is-just superb writing. ❤️👑❤️

2024-02-20 16:11:00 +0000 UTCoops..then they both look at each other and there’s a moment of realisation and real sexual tension, before either of them fully interprets what they’re feeling…that’s the first one. And they touch hands when they’re on the back of the motorbikes after Rosh’s football game, but that seems more like sheer enjoyment of a night out and for Wille, the euphoria of freedom and normality.
Ruth May
2024-02-20 15:58:16 +0000 UTCFor me, the hands touching moment during the movie is actually the second significant physical interaction because I feel that the scene at the end of episode 1 when without thinking, Wille holds Simon’s face in his hand to stop him making a noise when August is looking for him, them

2024-02-20 15:53:50 +0000 UTCWell, in Ep.4 S2 when Nils and Wille are having a conversation outside and he invites him to their house in Verbier, he literally says „you didn’t know that I was gay“. So I think him hooking up with Maddy is basically a cover. And he also says that he doesn’t plan to be the first CEO of a company who’s out.
Frances
2024-02-20 15:20:01 +0000 UTCYeah, it was Nils who came out as gay in conversation with Wille in season 2. Are we meant to see this with Madison as some kind of ‘cover’ or is he bisexual? He doesn’t describe himself as bi to Wille. Nils is rather an ambiguous character in lots of ways.
Ruth May
2024-02-20 15:07:48 +0000 UTCGreat symbolism with Simon passing through multiple doorways to be able be with Wille and kiss him.

2024-02-20 06:47:31 +0000 UTCA couple of random observations: I had forgotten the way the lines in the horror movie they’re watching fit in with what’s going on between Wilhelm and Simon at the same time. It’s also somehow fitting that the movie they’re watching is a Netflix original film. (I looked it up.) And I had somehow assumed that the actress playing Madison must be an American, but from what I can tell, she is Swedish. She certainly has the American accent down cold.

2024-02-20 05:02:54 +0000 UTCIt’s on YouTube, someone posted a 45 minute video, it’s not all whole songs but it’s still pretty cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3AVi-gRyJE

2024-02-19 23:21:19 +0000 UTCThanks for the links. I am from Denmark - drove 12 hours to Stockholm. Met him Friday at Lyko. Went to the show Saturday where Edvin, Samuel (Nils) and Felicia (Stella) were three rows in front of us all night. Omar sounded incredible 🤩 Edvin was wiping away tears when he sang Simon’s song - so cute ❤️ Sunday we went to Kaggesholm Slott (Hillerska) - Fun days with my family.

2024-02-19 23:18:16 +0000 UTCIt's just perfect timing to get episode 2 on the same day they announced the YR Documentary! It's soooo exciting but at the same time soooo sad! 🥹 I am going to cry for sure! ♥️ I agree with you, Jackie, it's unfair YR doesn't get the same or even similar recognition as other shows. The kiss scene is phenomenal.

2024-02-19 23:16:35 +0000 UTCYou are so lucky to have been there I'm so jealous. I saw some videos on YouTube https://youtu.be/E3AVi-gRyJE?si=oxxqx_vQTkYohtiS this is clips of the show and then this chanel https://youtu.be/9wTSnPOB45U?si=hnALkKZst4uVJFSq has some individual songs. I'm still hoping for an official recording.
