We are back with the next episode of Heartstopper today. I've had a short break since watching the show so it's been great to sit down and film the rest of the episodes!

This was the episode I was most looking forward to. Something about This Winter just grabbed me from the very first time I read it. And all the Tori bits just 👩🍳😘 When she said, “I only care about you.” I lost it. At the end after she watches Nick & Charlie kiss & the way she just squares her shoulders and moves away. Like she’s realizing that she can have some hope now & that Charlie is gonna be okay. Phew. ♥️

He's realising that Charlie wears his jumpers when he feels fragile and to have Nick close as comfort. This is distressing him as he raises how much Charlie is still struggling and also that he relies so much on Nick to feel safe. Nick's probably having the start of worries about dependency as his Aunt warned him about.

I love the warmth that Nick's family shows for Charlie and you can see the difference that that makes to him. And of course Nellie and Henry 😍. I love the development of Tori's character. She's not quite how I imagined from reading the books but I like the way the Jenny portrays her.

2024-10-22 02:29:40 +0000 UTCEpisode 5 really holds a lot, as we see as time goes on and especially the way episode 8 had that conversation with Charlie and Tori on the wheel, all I will say is I just love their support system is because this is two absolutely amazing siblings who understands each other but also loves one other. Jen and Joe do a fantastic job at really showcasing that because as we see it's not easy and especially because even though Tori has Micheal there, she's still wanting to look after Charlie because how much she cares for her younger brother. I just love how well they really showcase a lot especially throughout the cause of three seasons in, like yes, this season has had its dark moments within the first 4 episodes, then with episode 5 it was more lighter but still facing the realities and then as we go onto the last 3 episodes it really shows a lot, and I just love that. And I'm really glad you know like Alice branched out to tell more of Darcy's story of being non binary which makes me even more hopeful that we will see that more for season 4 I hope with a bit more longer lengths of episodes since we don't know how long volume 6 will be, but also the storyline with Elle, like it's really showcasing the rises and falls of the reality of Elle being transgender, and what and how it all comes about with being that, Yasmin did an excellent job. Like this show isn't afraid to showcase all the emotions, properly representing mental health, the struggles, the journeys and the closures of things, so without this brilliant and excellent cast and the amazing Alice none of this would be even possible

I am glad you had an amazing vacation, and that you had a moment to relax and recharge with Reiss and family! But I am also glad you are back! Thank you as always for your insight and honesty! Going back to how people were treating Charlie and his ocd and eating disorder, I can speak from the perspective of a loved one having ocd and it being terrible sometimes and how annoyed I get when people just don’t get what they have to go through and how amazingly strong they are!

(Also: a little touch in case you didn't notice it - the firework that goes off behind Tori in that final frame was in the Ace colours (heartstopper doing the brilliant job of foreshadowing there <33)

I really liked This Winter when I listened to the audiobook of it, and I think the show does a very good job of condensing the book to fit in this episode without it feeling condensed. I also really like the things that are not in the book with the friend characters that are worked into the Christmas Day part of the episode. I do also really feel for Tori in this episode, and Jenny really plays her to perfection. The first appearance of Michael is an especially lovely moment.
