EA's Policy Update: My Stance

Hey guys,

I've really valued your advice and your support over the last day or so and your understanding of my situation here (partly because I've seen a lot of people be downright mean on twitter and tumblr and it's made me nervous about it and wonder if I'll get yelled at or mistreated for this). I've asked the advice of a lot of my friends and fellow modders and have a tentative stance on the issue.

I've come to the conclusion that, unless we get a clear denouncement of early access from someone who knows for sure, that my current distribution falls in line of this post that says "all users must be able to access the Mods in full for free regardless of whether they donate", because while there's a short early access period for some, all users do have access to my content in the end regardless of if you can or want to donate to or support me.

I want to thank you guys for your advice, even though some of it was contrary to this decision it helped me mull this over and I've been so incredibly grateful for your compassionate responses and help in trying to help me make whatever decision is safest for me. I also took into account the results of the poll, which mostly supported this decision.

Modding isn't all about the money to me, I'm genuinely just blown away that so many of you are patrons here just to support me and enjoy what I do here because I never expected so many of you would come to enjoy my dumb recipes. However, as the cost of living has increased and my tenuous financial situation has taken a hit, I do often rely on the money I get here to pay my bills. I never intended it to be that way but here I am. So it's important to me I don't lose that if I don't absolutely have to.

It's worth understanding that this is also the only money I've been able to get that's from something I did and I worked for/achieved on my own and it'd break my heart a bit if I lost the ability to feel that sense of achievement and worth that I don't otherwise feel in my daily life as someone unable to have traditional employment due to my disabilities. I don't know if that makes any sense but I hope it does 😅

Finally, I'm so grateful for all of you, regardless of if you can pledge, you're my guys, and I understand not being in a financial situation to commit to £1 a month with everything adding up, that's so understandable, I'm just happy to see you using my stuff and enjoying it anyway! There is, as always, no pressure to pledge or even to keep pledging now (all I ask is that you don't send me hate messages cause I'm fragile 🤣). I love you all regardless.
