Dieselnoi at Petchrungruang Long Term - Legends in Residence

We had Dieselnoi come to Petchrungruang for a month between February and March. The idea was to take this absolutely incredible man, a tower from the Golden Age of Muay Thai and a pillar of the Muay Thai community in Thailand, who is more or less a satellite to the core of contemporary Muay Thai gyms. Dieselnoi has connections everywhere - I doubt there's a single city in Thailand where he couldn't find a friend who would host him. But his teaching is detached from the kind of practice he grew up in; he teaches occasional seminars or gives demonstrations, drops in at a gym to certify some of the foreign students who are completing a course. Nothing like the traditional, grit and sweat gym experience he thrived in as a champion. And he's an amazing teacher. When he was still very young, at the height of his career but going long stretches between fights because opponents had dried up, he was helping to train active Yodmuay champions.

A Chance to Train With a Legend July - January 2020

So our 6 month Legends in Residence with Dieselnoi starts this Wednesday, July 17th, and is only possible through the support everyone has given as patrons. He'll be at the gym 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) at Petchrungruang (my gym in Pattaya) for our regular training, morning and evening. He's a roving mentor who is just an incredible energy and Golden Age excellence. I argue he's the GOAT. He's brilliant at these sessions, jumping in to offer technique on how to train on the bag, in shadow, on pads; but his real excitement and insistence is on the energy itself. He says over and over again how anybody can teach the same techniques, anybody can have the same techniques, but it's how you love them and express them and put them into your fighting that makes them special or not. He makes them supernatural. It's about the heart of the fighter, the tenacity, the relentlessness. And he teaches you all of that. The times that he's at the gym looking after our Lumpinee and Rajadamnern fighters, he injects a kind of energy and power into their training that has elevated every one of them. I'm really looking forward to seeing what his longer-term residency will do for those fighters, as well as for how he can teach shorter-term western fighters how to bring this kind of training home with them. Disseminating out into the world.

If you are in Thailand between July 2019 and January 2020 this is a don't miss. Come for regular training Weds-Friday and train with one of the greatest who ever fought.

He will also be available for private sessions You get a lot out of an hour with him. You can book those through my Facebook page, and due to his health we'll limit them to one private per day, but I do recommend training with him in regular sessions as well. He's very generous with his attention. He's one of the most emotionally generous men I've ever met, actually.

This project is made possible by my patrons, so you guys are affecting the lives of Legends, of family of Petchrungruang Gym, of people who have the opportunity to be there at the time that this is happening. None of that is small.

And Dieselnoi's accommodation is being sponsored by Alim, who is the wonderful owner at Royal Thai Residence in Pattaya (we recommend you stay there if you are coming to train at Petchrungruang. It's close, it's nice, it's quiet and has a pool, and there's a training/accommodation package for longer-term stays).

For everyone who can't be in Thailand I'll definitely try to bring exclusive material from the 6 months with Dieselnoi to patrons. As always spreading the knowledge and celebration of legends.

As patrons can watch the two part documentation of his stay at Petchrungruang in February here:

Kaimuay Diaries - Episode 5 | Dieselnoi In the House Part 1 (52 min)   In this episode I follow Dieselnoi and his impact on Alex, one of the Petchrungruang fighters, at Rajadamnern stadium. Alex has been featured in previous Kaimuay Diaries, an Italian boy who has been raised like a Thai boy since he was 12. Now 17, Dieselnoi wanted to make make him more intense and forward fighting. You get to see Dieselnoi's passion, and listen to Pi Nu talk about what it has been like having a legend like Dieselnoi in his family's gym.  watch it here

Kaimuay Diaries - Episode 6 Dieselnoi In The House Pt 2: Bank (47 min) this is "Part 2," focusing on Bank and Dieselnoi's dedication to him, leading up to a fight at Rajadamnern that was a step up for Bank. If he won, it would push him into a next level of opponents. You can see the difference between Dieselnoi's training of Alex and his training of Bank, but you can see the similarities as well. Mostly it's just amazing to watch how f***ing much Dieselnoi puts into everything.  watch it here

You can study Dieselnoi in the Muay Thai Library in these sessions:

#48 Dieselnoi Chor. Thanasukarn - Jam Session  (80 min) watch it here

Possibly the greatest fighter who ever lived, Dieselnoi, teaches his fighting tactics and strategy, keys to winning as a Muay Khao fighter. He is accompanied by Rajadamnern Featherweight champion Nopidej Sor. Reodi, so you get to see see the interaction between two related philosophies of the Muay Khao style. This session could be watched and studied over and over.

#30 Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn 2 - Muay Khao Craft  (42 min) watch it here

The greatest knee fighter who ever lived not only shares his secrets in ring tactics - how to draw out your opponent and then ultimately hem them in - and various closing and tripping techniques, he also shows his amazing heart. He's a Legend among Legends, the fighter without equal in the history of the sport.

#3 Dieselnoi  Chor Thanasukarn  - The King of Knees (54 min) - watch it here

Dieselnoi is the greatest knee fighter who ever lived, and it just wasn't because of his height. Spending this hour with him lets you feel how much love and energy he pours into his Muay Thai, even at this age, the real secret to what make him dominant in the Golden Age of the sport. There is nobody like Dieselnoi. Nobody.
