My favorite line so far from this video: 85 doing 85 things, running right into that cat. Thanks JT.

With Tevin Jenkins slated to return the Bears get a massive upgrade at LG. I questioned the same thing with 85 when I saw the game. The coaches know their players strengths and weaknesses and asking Kmet to win there is asking him to do something he isn't good at rn. It's terrible coaching and consistent with this staff it appears. In late game like that you want your best route runners in the game. Just an inexcusable display of coaching to end this game

Is this the same officiating crew that did the Chiefs first game with the RT false starting and not being flagged? #58 for the Bears does the same thing multiple times.

There’s some scheme stuff the Texans are doing to help, but also Stroud just operates at a much quicker processing speed than Fields. That much is evident even in Ohio St film. Bears just rarely do anything to help Fields in that regard.

Yep, I saw that comment from Justin today. I'm glad it was Patrick that screwed it up rather than our first round pick. But it's still just amateur hour out there.

A few thoughts:
The LG Whitehair was slotted as the starting center. It due to an injury to the starting guard he’s been bumped over. The starter should be back either this week or next as he’s just come off of IR. Hopefully 62 (Patrick) keeps the job and whitehair is relegated to the bench.
I’m trying to figure out the 4th and 1 when they were tied 28-28. The RT has been playing awful the whole game and especially on that possession. Why call a run play right behind him? But then again, nobody was exactly reliable out there Sunday. ALSO: not shown here which I think you should look at JT, is prior to the failed attempt. They came out in gun and tried to get the broncos to jump offsides and at the last second fields ran up to the line and got under center as a last ditch effort to draw them. He could have taken that snap and easily had the first on a little tush push with the back coming to help. These lack of contingencies in specific situations is what gets coaches fired. Great coaches prepare for everything and I’m seeing too many instances of players not prepared for the “if this, then that” situations.
I’m done with 85 unless he’s out there for short routes or the occasional chip and release. He brings nothing as a downfield target. I would argue that on that final possession he shouldn’t even be in the game. Go 5 wide with all the speed you have out there or 4 wide and a back to chip if needed. Everything needs to be quick anyhow since blocking up front has been so awful on longer developing plays. They can’t afford to call these long-developing routes.
Fields took responsibility for the pick at the end and had his boy 85’s back. That’s true leadership as we all know that 85 stopped on the route judging by fields body language and clear anticipation of the in break and box-out.
As always JT, you’re killing it. Love these breakdowns!

Seems like you've lowered the bar for what's considered good for Fields. Still no anticipation throws. He waits to see receivers open, same thing he's done his entire career, only difference this time is that Denver didn't cover so the receivers were wide open. The DJ Moore TD throw was terrible, Moore had him beat over the top early and Fields nearly threw it out of bounds. Great catch by Moore, but it was a gift by the refs, he never got two feet down.

Bears fan here. Not to push back on logic and reason but the bears are on a bit of a bad run here. Still being a fan is irrational. It’s the stupid hope which holds off the depression. Even if for a day. This 300yard performance is our superbowl. Please stand aside as we go make the next shuffle video good sir!

Hey JT, thank for this man. It’s so cool getting your perspective on JF1 as well as the whole squad. I really appreciate you including the run plays. Just so cool to get to watch a guy who’s been in the league break it down. It’s different than a fan’s perspective (obviously). The JF1 videos are the whole reason I decided to get on Patreon, and I am definitely happy I did even if it was just for this one! Thank you sir 💯

Love the video JT. Always supported Fields, and while he played great, and he hasn't been getting help from OC or OL or HC, I feel like it might be too late in for him, when it comes to a Bears uniform. He still has the season, but I could honestly see them moving him at the deadline if he continues to play well and someone calls. 1 question. What do you think he needs to show in order for the Bears to say this is OUR guy. Because he needs to do it this season.

I feel that the offense should have been doing this from day 1 why does it take 4 weeks to install this offense when you have better personnel this year. Getsy is gonna lose his job because of this. Bears could be 2-2 right now at the most.

I was at the game. The ‘fog’ was smoke from the fireworks they lit off after every Bears TD. It wasn’t really windy so it all just sat inside the stadium.

Based on post game comments regarding the INT at the end of the game, Kmet expected to sit rather than continue his route across. Fields obviously thought otherwise. As you say, the Bears deserved that INT. Throwing to Scott (13) would have required "A," which maybe he should be able to do with the CB playing 10 yards off. Pre-snap it doesn't look like JF turns his head that way.
Also fyi, the view from the north endzone camera sucks for the first half of early games. It's looking directly into the sun.

I just hope he can stay healthy for the remaining games. He was a top 5 guard last year and we need him on that weak side. Kicking Whitehair back to C will allow us to drop kick Lucas Patrick out of that spot also.

The big issue is both bears starters on the left are out so the entire side has no reps together.

2023-10-03 07:08:41 +0000 UTC
Tough seeing our 1st rd RT struggle like this. He had a rep on one of those jet sweeps where he hustled, ran forever and tried to clean someone out (great hustle play, IMO), then came back next play and looked tired.
Conditioning yeah, but that's a big boy on a high 70s day running like that.
Is it realistic for OL to get a blow after plays like that? He just seemed gassed after that and never really got it back.

I was dying for this tape and loved watching every minute of it JT. The offense (line excluded) gelled so well here. This is the offensive style Bears fans were promised before the season began.
I agree with you that Justin getting to a quick drop back and fire will come in time, he has all the capabilities and work effort to do it.
Now the real test comes against the Commanders on Thursday but I think we see the improvement from here on out.

I know you aren't asking me, but I'd say The Texans protect him way better. The bears offensive line is wrecked. They're playing third string and people in positions that they've never really played before or just really weak at. They didn't build any depth during the off season and they're dealing with a ton of injuries and missing people right now.

Honest question, no malice intended: I feel like the Texans do a way better job protecting Stroud than the Bears do Fields, and they're missing like everyone their starting line. What do you think accounts for that difference? Could just be that Stroud is better at getting the ball out faster and that covers it up, feels like it's deeper than that though
